Capital One To Remove Access To Priority Pass Non-Lounge Options (Restaurants, Spas)

Capital One has announced that effective January 1, 2023 Priority Pass from the Capital One Venture X will no longer offer access to non lounge options such as restaurants, retail shopping and spas. This can be found in the F.A.Q:

Effective January 1, 2023, Priority Pass non-lounge airport experiences (like dining, retail shopping and spa discounts) are not part of the Visa Infinite® benefit program for Venture X cardholders. (Link to FAQ: https://www.capitalonetravel.com/lounges/partner-lounge-network/)

The same restriction applies to American Express. Obviously this is a negative change, how bad it is will depend if it affects your home airport (or other airports you frequently transit through).

  • The restaurants are now showing back in my priority pass app (for venture x card) curious to know if they will work or not…they used to be removed but are now showing again.

    • Restaurants were still showing in my app (AU on venture x), but not in P2’s app, although her expiration renewed already to 2024 and mine was still 2023.

Went to a PP restaurant listed in my app, they scanned my QR and asked for guests, then eventually said sorry your priority pas isn’t part of our network. Darn, was hoping for a small chance of it still working.

  • Was gonna get Venture X after a friend highly recommended it. Guess I have to rethink that decision. Not cool, CO! I used to turn my nose up at CO, maybe there was a reason for it.

  • Looks like Christmas came early for Chase. I'd pay for the X even at $550 if it included Priority Pass Restaurants... the other benefits would basically tie it with CSR... now its clearly worse. And people don't need to premium cards. Glad I kept the CSR.

  • Capital One sucks!! Restaurant benefit is why I got Venture X. Capital One is such a bait-and-switch company.

    • Eh they were the best card because its only $395 for everything else that lines up with the CSR offerings... until this Bullsh!t.

  • Capital One pays $20 per Venture X card to get all the Visa Infinite benefits regardless of usage per year. If they're getting rid of this it means Visa increased the cost per card and Capital One is trying to keep their 'we have priority pass' marketing claim rather than increase the cost basis for the portfolio.

  • Negative change. I have a trip planned early next year with a connection through Heathrow and was looking forward to trying a PP restaurant in the airport. I suppose this also kills my opportunity for 60 minutes at a minutesuite as well. 28 days notice before cancellation of benefits. Somewhere in the small print of that mile long terms agreement they covered change policy and limited notification.

    • minute suites should still be covered as a lounge I think the amex priority pass works there

    • If that's the Heathrow terminal 5 Globe restaurant (pre security) that you're referring to then I tried the Capital One Venture X priority pass last week and it didn't work, denied. P2's also got denied by the machine after swiping. Never had that happen before anywhere else.
