Update 3 (12/11/18): Capital One has reached out to state the 75,000 point bonus ended yesterday. Bonus has now been reduced to 50,000 points.

Update 2: Here is a working application link – click the down arrow to see the 75k offer spelled out (ht Uscreditcardguide & Wallers Wallet). I’d recommend applying quickly if you are interested.

Update 12/11/18: Bonus has been reduced to 50,000 today. I can’t find any live links, if anyone finds one, please let us know.

The Offer

Direct link to offer

Card Details

  • $95 annual fee; fee is waived the first year
  • Card earns 2x points everywhere (the equivalent of 2% everywhere or 1.5 airline miles per $1 spent ) and 10x on Hotels.com purchases
  • No foreign transaction fees
  • TSA PreCheck/Global Entry credit
  • Visa Signature benefits

Our Verdict

Standard bonus on this card is 50,000 miles, so this is an extra 25,000 miles. We have seen some targeted offers of 100,000 miles but those are rare. Points are worth 1¢ each when redeeming to offset travel costs or in gift card redemption (e.g. Amazon). You can also now transfer to 12 airline programs as well at a 2:1.5 rate, this would mean the bonus is worth 56,250 airline miles. The downside to this bonus is the card is issued by Capital One and they do a hard pull on all three credit bureaus. Keep in mind, you can freeze your Experian or Transunion and limit the pulls to just two (note: some have had problems with this method). Check out these Things to Know about Capital One Credit Cards before applying. People often get denied by Capital One for various reasons.

Looks like Capital One will become a serious player in the rewards credit card market with these changes. I think they’d be wise to remove the three credit pull policy for premium cards like this, but that probably only makes a small difference to communities like ours. We will be adding this bonus to our list of the best credit card bonuses.

Just called over the phone and got approved. I only have a Business Card open with them from 15 months ago. The Propel WORLD card is still alive over phone application.

Prior to the Business Card, i had a Wachovia Way2Save Checking account that’s been a WF Checking account for the last 9 yrs that i just closed at the end of 2019.

Got denied, said “We can’t approve you for this card today…
We know you’re disappointed, and we’ve explained why we couldn’t approve you in a letter you’ll receive within 7-10 business days”

Credit score is ~750, have had 5 cards in last 24 months.. Haven’t had capital one card in many years though..

Got the letter with the usual cryptic message:

Based on your credit report from one or more of the agencies on the back of this letter, number of bank cards tradelines opened in the last 24 months

·Based on your credit report from one or more of the agencies on the back of this letter, there are too many new revolving accounts

I received an offer to receive a client card with a bad credit history. I have no particular problems, so I just recorded this information. https://wpmission.com/www-lendupcard-comcard-pre-qualified-for-arrow-visa-card-login/ I do not know how long the offer will be relevant. Almost 25% per annum is not very attractive conditions. However, if there is no other way out, you must agree on them.

I found that when requesting travel credit on Capital One Venture, it gets credited but it stays in the menu allowing to request credit for the same purchase again and again.

Are there any problems or risks associated with using all my miles to request credit for the same purchase (or just a couple of them) again and again? Or is it common thing, which everybody uses?

No risk, I redeemed all of my points “erasing” a single $20 travel purchase over and over, after getting tipped off by a comment here.

Very happy!!! Finally approved after waiting for them to review my identity docs (applied early December and did not call in). Had taken an almost 2yr break – 3/24, ~800, low utilization, no pre-qual, no prior Cap1 history.

DP: I got pre-approved and, surely, got instant approval for the 75k/ $5000 MSR. I was 12/24 and around 750 credit score. I do have one CaptialOne Platinum card (my first card) for almost ten years.
