Our Verdict

We’ve seen increased signup offers of 60,000 or even 100,000, though the latter had a high $20,000 spend bonus and most people will consider this 75,000 offer easier/better, I think.

Points can be redeemed either as a travel credit to offset $750 in travel costs or you can get gift card redemptions in that amount. You can also transfer the miles to 12 travel partners that Capital One has. The Venture might also be interesting to some people as an everyday card.

We’ll add this offer to our list of best credit card signup bonuses. If you’re going to apply, it’s worth checking out these Things to Know about Capital One Credit Cards first. Notably, Capital One is known to pull all three credit bureaus for each application. Keep in mind, you can freeze your Experian or Transunion and limit the pulls to just two. Another issue is that they seem to be stricter with approvals than other card issuers, and they may also have a rule to only approve one card per six months (hard pull won’t even be done beyond that).

  • Applied with Avelo $200 credit offer, spent it on airline website Capital one rep confirmed the credit will post it’s been 6 months and no credit! Opened 3 investigations with their supervisors but nothing, capital one is playing dumb so don’t count on Credit!

  • I opened this card a month ago with only the 75k+avelo credit offer. Is capital one likely to upgrade my offer to the newest offer which is $250 travel credit (appears to be all purpose) + 75k miles?

  • Denied as well, 800+ score, 3/24 (but 1/12), instant rejection with emailed reason of 'number of bank cards tradelines too many' -- did anyone ever successfully change Capital One's decision by calling reconsideration? seems zero chance so maybe it is better to move on?

    • I have never heard of anybody overturning a decision. Only option is to move on and try again later.

  • Just an FYI, I was able to product change my card from Venture card to a Quicksilver card. I completed the downgrade about 2 weeks or so before my annual fee was to post. I also have a Savorone card and a checking account with Capital One.

  • Around 810-816 credit score. 1/24. Not a high earner. Got approved for Cap Venture with a 20k avail credit. Have had their Quicksilver card with less than $10k credit since I was a college student (prolly 10 years lol). Also had their checking account for couple years. Yay to me.

  • 808 score, declined for the first time ever. Not a huge churned but maybe 30 cards over the past 7ish years. I'm offended Capital One. They will explain in 7-10 days :(

    • I was denied too, back in January. They said I had too many open cards. I closed 3 accounts, and will try again soon. Fingers crossed.

  • Using this card has been so painful. Small $3k limit, I spent $3k in a few days. Sent a payment of $1300 to make a $1200 "purchase". Declined because not enough available credit when available credit is showing $1300 in the app. FML.

  • I got a message from Capital One because I frozed Experian and Transunion.
