The 5x bonus categories on the Chase Freedom and Freedom Flex cards have now been released:
- Grocery Stores (excluding Walmart and Target)
- Select Streaming Services
- Merchants in the Select Streaming Services category specialize in delivering music and video content over the internet. Only subscription services paid for with the following select merchants will qualify for this offer: Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+, Netflix, Sling, Vudu, Fubo TV, Apple Music, SiriusXM, Pandora, Spotify and YouTube TV.
Grocery stores are always a favorite and easy-to-use category. You can buy gift cards at many grocery stores as well, such as Visa or Amazon. Or buy a gift card to the grocery store itself to spend down slowly.
These categories are not yet showing on the regular Chase calendar, but show up within the Chase login. They will be ready for activation beginning June 15th. We’ll have a post tomorrow with all the quarterly category cards and their activation links.

If you have Freedom Flex for the 9% groceries offer, and Chase Sapphire Preferred/Reserve, groceries could be worth up to either 11.25% or 13.5% cash back for July-Sept (after transferring points to Sapphire)
Since this is brought up, stacking with 1st yr 5% on CF or CFU, does anyone know when the 5% ends? By account openning date? or by statement cycle? Thanks
We do not see COSTCO or SAM's CLUB from the list as excluded or Included from Grocery Stores (We are aware that its not consider as grocery store as its warehouse) But Can we shop online to take advantage the 5% --- Please help if you have observed from past years
buy wal-mart gcs with Discover and use paypal.
Perhaps use freedom or flex to buy a visa/mc gift card at a grocery store to then use at costco or sam's club in-store or register said gift card online to then use online ...
One way to get categorized as groceries may be to buy from them via Instacart
My one test with Costco via instacart had it post as COSTCO BY INSTACART instead of normal instacart transaction with groceries even though transaction was listed as groceries and it only earned 1% instead of 5%.
Warehouse clubs are explicitly excluded. See link below.
Yes! 4 Freedom/Flex cards to max out. Thank you God!
Not sure how much I'll be able to take advantage of these. I already get 5X on streaming through my CIC. I get 4X on groceries through Amex Gold. Will probably switch my groceries to my CF.
Last year's category examples for Grocery Stores, Select Streaming Services are shown in the link below

YESSSSSSSSSS! Grocery 9% here we go again! 5% + 4% from 1st year bonus
I am in my first year of Flex.
Are you saying that I will get 9%?
It was indeed attainable last year
Not 100% sure if they will change their behavior this year
I just called Chase, customer service rep confirmed that since the two offers are separate, they do indeed stack.
This is great news
Reddit post confirms it too https://www.reddit.com/r/CreditCards/comments/o1qwp8/confirmed_chase_freedom_flex_holders_will_earn_9x/
Grocery 1st yr bonus stacked w/Paypal Key (for online groceries) during Paypal quarter. Did you previously get grocery 1st yr & grocery quarterly to stack?
Oh shoot! I was thinking this was useless because I still get my first year of 5% groceries with Flex. How do I double dip??

Yup!
Glad I waited for this announcement. Was going to buy grocery gift cards from my gas station to stock up for rest of year, but looks like no need.
