Our Verdict

Normally when doing a dummy booking you can get an extra $50, unfortunately this time that offer doesn’t come with a free night certificate. This 125k + free night certificate is not as good as the recent 140,000 point offer as that had the $50 credit and the annual fee waived. IHG recently devalued points massively so if you do go for this deal I’d recommend using the points ASAP. I won’t be adding this to the best credit card bonuses.

  • Funny how people were saying the same goodbyes to Hilton back in 2013 after their massive devaluation yet their AmEx cards keep showing up on the best offers list.
If you want to play this game you need to learn to adapt... nobody owes you anything.

  • Let’s boycott IHG’s Credit card... they are basically stealing our credit score/ money...

    • They're stealing your credit score? Who are they equifax? Lol. Stealing money maybe.

    • How are they stealing our credit score? I just checked mine and they haven't stolen it yet. Do you mean they are hacked somehow?

      • I meant your credit score gets hurt when you apply for a new credit card.

In terms of stealing your money, your interest rate is higher when you finance something.

Thus, you basically getting junks (worthless points) in return

        • They are not stealing though...I mean it's your choice to apply and keep the card. Yours and yours only, not Chase...

  • No one should get an IHG credit card after the latest massive devaluation.
They need to learn their lesson: enough is enough.

  • For me to apply for this any IHG card the bonus has to be 400K points and earning rate has to be 20 points for each dollar spend anywhere else except 40 points per dollar at IHG to properties. 60000 points a night for $89 cash rate holiday inn and 140000 points a night for $130 cash rate a night at intercontinental ? I am canceling my IHG card soon

    • Right. Every time I see those recent 5x points for spend promotions, I think: meh, why even bother.

  • I hope their offers never make it to your best credit card offers. They're the absolute worst reward program, with a distinct and complete disregard for the reward member.

    • 125k + 1 free night up to 40k
      or
      140k + $50 + $89 (annual fee)

      up-to-25k points
      or
      $139

Would you buy IHG points for 1.8 cents (more if you redeem the night for a <40k room)?
