Important update: These offers will be available to business managed customers, these customers are managed by business relationship managers and as such most readers will NOT be eligible for these offers.
The Offer
- Beginning March 12, the signup bonus on the Chase INK Preferred card will be 100,000 points after spending $5,000 within three months.
This change is for branch applications only. The online offer will remain the same.
As part of the new offer the annual fee will no longer be waived the first year, as has been the case previously with branch applications. Essentially, you’re paying $95 for an extra 20k UR points which is obviously an excellent deal.

- Points are worth an additional 25% more when you redeem them for airfare, hotels, car rentals and cruises through Chase Ultimate Rewards (making points worth 1.25¢ per point)

Our Verdict
We’ve reported that the INK Preferred will be increasing, but we didn’t have a firm date, and the media team also indicated that the offer will be targeted. We now know that it’ll happen on March 12 and that it will be a branch-only offer.
Note the picture above indicates that the 100k offer will be a targeted offer only available to Business Managed customers. I’m pretty sure (but not positive) this just means that you’ll need a dedicated business banker to get the offer for you; not all Chase bankers deal with business products.
Applying in-branch might sound like a drag, but the truth is that for many of use our only hope is to go to a branch and see if we got pre-approved for the card since the INK Preferred card is effected by 5/24. Check out these 23 things to know about Chase credit card before applying.
Also noted in the photo above is that the INK Cash will increase. We wrote about that in a dedicated post. Hopefully, if you go into a branch you’ll be pre-approved for at least one of these cards.
Huge thanks goes to D. who let us know about this. Please send us tips and info to Will@doctorofcredit.com or Chuck@doctorofcredit.com or both. Thanks.

Just applied 100k ink preferred in branch with relationship manager. application is in processing. does anyone have Chase's phone number (business recon line?) that I can call in for this?
btw: I do have biz total checking with them, I told them that sometimes I sell electronics in ebay.
May I ask how your located your relationship manager?
Haven't been able to find one with a couple local branches I called
Thanks
Signed up for this yesterday, I don't have any bank accounts with chase
I asked the personal banker about the 100k offer and he took me to meet with a business relationship manager. They submitted my application, wasn't approved right away but I called the business recon line and reallocated some credit to get it opened.
I was told that "business managed" means $1m in revenue and a maintained balance of $100k in your account. did you meet those?
Nope, like I said I don't have any bank accounts with Chase
How much revenue does ur business generate?
I am wondering if this card has bonus category, Gas, like Chase Ink Plus (2x however).
Thanks!
No, it doesn't: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/chase-ink-business-preferred-complete-review-80000-point-bonus-3x-points/
No
Applied today in branch. Was told the speculation is the 100k points will be available trough a business account manager by invitation only sometime in mid to late April, but she did say they don't know yet.
The annual fee of $95 was put into affect on March 11th, which the rep thought it was till the 24th till she confirmed.
I have a business and personal account (since 2006) with Chase, applied for the Ink Preferred. It showed as a pending status.
Immediately called the Recon line, said I was rejected for the BK I had in 2012. Asked me all the questions on why I had a BK, my income and business now, earnings, revenue for previous years, projected future earnings.
Got denied again because I have 2 new accounts with Chase, I just opened a Sapphire Preferred and a Slate last week. Both of these were initially denied, I called the recon line and got them both approved.
She then said that this was a business card under my company, so she can make it work. Came back 3 min later with a approval for $5k
Curious if any folks have applied for the Ink Preferred 80k offer in-branch? Just to confirm that the $95 annual fee is now not waived...
Thanks
Just applied in branch. There is a $95 fee as of 3/11/17
It was suppose to be waived till March 24, but they changed it
Thanks. It sounds like there's no benefit to applying in branch versus online then...
AF waived was always supposed to end on the 11th.
In branch
DP: Just tried sending a secure message today about matching the 100k for the Ink Preferred. Got shut down very quickly. Tried calling, but no luck. Was told there is a note on the account that it cannot be matched to the higher offer.
Did you apply in branch or online?
Thanks will. Any idea what generally would qualify you?
Business revenues in the six figures.
Will,
Sorry just to clarify further, a personal banker that I've worked with in the past, referred me to a business banker at his branch and they said they would help me apply for the ink preferred (this was before the details of the 100k offer came out, so I've delayed going in to apply). I do not have any existing business relationship though with chase (just personal checking/saving and cards) and my business is sell stuff on eBay business (legitimate though). Any idea whether I'd get the 100k offer (since they previously said they help me apply, not sure if this would count)? Or should I go in asap to get the fee waived at least?
Thanks
I'd probably just go for the fee waiver, I don't think you'll get the 100k offer but don't know for sure.
Thanks for the helpful post, Chuck! Currently have an Ink Cash (former Ink Plus that was product-changed) and planning to apply for the Ink Preferred. Is my understanding correct that, assuming I value 20,000 Ultimate Rewards Points at more than $95, it would make more sense to wait until March 12 to apply in branch, rather than apply now online or in branch? Will there be any issues with me having an Ink Cash card (that used to be an Ink Plus)? If so, how can those issues be prevented / avoided?
Better to get the Ink Preferred now I believe.
Thanks for the recommendation, William!
Also, unsure about the "important update" — the update is clear, but the post text states that you will just need a dedicated business banker to help you. If you aren't a business managed customer (or don't know if you are), is it safe to assume this offer won't be available to you?
Separately, what will happen to the public online offer and public in-branch offer on March 12?

Yes
Public in branch and online offer will both be 50k points.
I somehow missed this in all of the descriptions of this card offer. The public offering will be reduced from 80k to 50k?
I missed it too. IMHO, the details in post should be #bolded, since DOC removed the image.
Great to know. Thanks, William!
