Our Verdict

The 1,500 bonus that doesn’t require Shoprite purchases should be easy for most people to meet the requirements for. How useful the Shoprite deals are will depend on how close a store is to you and if you need anything from them. We will be keeping an eye out for Shoprite deals (especially gift card deals) to stack this with. In the past these types of deals have been publicly available even if you didn’t receive the e-mail promoting them, I’ll reach out to Chase to confirm this.

  • I did NOT see there was an offer for both Sapphire and Freedom. I've almost maxed out the $400 for October on Freedom. Can you stack Freedom and Sapphire? If so I'm thinking I'll go and hit a go before 10/31 and buy enough in gift cards to reach 400 on my Freedom and then buy $50 in gift cards on my Sapphire (both using Chase Pay) and then the rest of the quarter will use my Sapphire ... so in the end I could get 1000 Unlimited, 1000 for my $50 purchase w/ Sapphire and then hit the 1500 on Sapphire just for doing my grocery shopping w/ chase pay until I do.

  • Just a heads up, for those local to ShopRite, there have been $5 coupons in the weekly circulars you get in the mail. This week was $5 off $75+, last week there were none, 2 weeks ago was $5 off $50+. Terms do NOT exclude GCs. The cashier might have to call a supervisor over to override it if you are only buying GCs. Last time the f'ing store manager had to approve it when I insisted the supervisor was incorrect in that gift cards are not excluded. They are not, if needed keep politely escalating. The coupon will scan but sometimes need a supervisor key/override.

    $5 off almost takes care of a visa/MC giftcard fee, or gives you an even bigger discount on store GCs.

    Also the correct cashier sequence for chase pay is for them to hit "chase pay" method of payment on their terminal, then the total, then enter. They they scan your QR code with their hand gun and it will go through. Most cashiers seem to know how to do it but today I had to tell mine how to process it.

    Transactions have been showing up properly as Chase Pay and are correctly awarding 10x points!

  • Was anyone able to use chase pay at shoprite?
    My qr code didn't scan and neither waving iPhone over terminal worked.

  • I bought 2x $200 VGC at a ShopRite. The activation fee is 2x $6.95 = $13.9. total $413.9. Chase online shows 4069 points for this transaction.

  • Tried to buy VGC online for the $0 activation fee. Did not work. The manager called me like 4 times telling me that they needed to speak with me.

    According to them, there should be an activation fee but since their website is trash it didn't pop up.

    Embarassing on their part. Gonna buy them in person and eat the fee.

    • Thanks for the DP. I saw $0 activation fee for VGC on their site and they had a $5 off online order promo but didn't get around to it yet.

  • Did the 5x$25+ CSR using Chase Pay at Best Buy, bought 5 Cricket refill cards. The last transaction has 1x points for the purchase, plus 1500.00 listed as Chase Pay bonus.
