Our Verdict

To be clear this offer is garbage, we saw an offer for 80,000 points earlier this year. That was before Chase introduced the new 48 month language as well. Some people are also seeing an offer for 65,000 points that bypasses the 5/24 rule and has 24 month instead of 48 month language, I’m interested to know if that offer also includes this new introductory APR period or not. Maybe Chase is trying to move away from focusing solely on sign up bonus to lure customers (something Citi has been doing in recent years with very limited success). Either way this offer sucks, just pointing out the new addition. This definitely won’t be added to our list of the best credit card bonuses.

  • Can I still get this bonus after getting two chase business card bonuses (ink and unlimited)?

I'm also trying to get the Sapphire banking bonus. How soon can I apply for that bonus after getting the credit card.

Thanks in advance for you input.

    • Having the business cards shouldn't affect your eligibility. Do you have a sapphire card at all?

  • Called and tried to inquired about the promotion: 0% intro APR + 50K points. Chase people never heard of it (Called 4 times), even though it said on their website too! They still insisted with the 17.74%-24.74%. They said Chase Sapphire Preferred never have 0% intro APR. Wasted my time talking to the agent. :(

  • Yup, if you have less than 5/24 right now, what would be a better Chase card to sign up for? Wife and I just got under 5/24. I got my 4th Chase Ink card (2 of them ink preferred) 30 days ago, and just approved for Bus United and Sapphire Preferred a couple of days ago. I will be well over 5/24 for a while now. I couldn't think of any better Chase personal card to get at this time, in a small window when I was under 5/24.

Doing similar scenario with wife's accounts. She did Ink Preferred and Sapphire Preferred 30 days ago. She is still under 5/24, so will likely apply now for 2nd Preferred under different TaxID, and then what Chase Personal card to get? Perhaps the new IHG card? Southwest isn't convenient for us, always with stop overs vs other airlines. Just strange the Sapphire Preferred is called garbage. I can't even think of another Chase card that would be worthwhile.

    • To be clear, he is not saying the card is garbage. He is saying the offer is garbage, and then explains why and includes links (80,000 and 65,000 offers). Since there are so many hoops to jump through to get these cards now, you have to make sure to be getting the absolute best offer if you qualify.

  • I looked at the cards you have listed as having the best bonuses and I don't see why you call this offer garbage. Those 50K UR are worth $625 when travel is booked through Chase, potentially more when transferred to airline programs. We're all upset at Chase for 5/24 and more recent developments, but that's no reason to thumb our noses at pretty good offers.

    • 50k UR is the standard offer for this card which is why it’s not considered good for most readers.

Why settle for 50k UR when you can wait a month or two and get 60-80k instead? Definitely would wait on this card.

  • Yeah but the 80k offer was still garbage too. Unless you can meet the 20k MSR. For me, that would be a challenge.

Bummer that chase is cooling it on signup bonuses. I'm below 5/24 and feel left out.

    • I can add a data point for that question. My mom has a big expenditure coming up within the week so we had her apply last Wednesday so she'd be sure to get the card. She applied under the 50,000 point offer. I sent a SM to Chase this morning requesting the match to the 50,000 point / 0% APR offer.

No Dice. Grrrrr. My mom always pays off her cards, but it would have been nice to float this expense and let her money earn a bit more interest. I asked Chase to recently match an offer for me on Checking/Savings accounts which they did (I was thrilled). Can someone explain to me why they won't/can't match an introductory APR?

      • My guess is that they will also target this to borrowers that tend to carry balances consistently and have lower FICOs and are looking for the interest windfall from borrowers that aren't disciplined to pay in full before the accumulated deferred interest post at 18-19% ? not sure what CSP APR is don't carry balances on personal cards even with 0%.

Also If the are offering 0% APRs on BT pretty sure it will be 5% fee.

So it looks like Chase is looking to offset the reward points cash liability on their ledgers by targeting higher risk borrowers which your mom doesn't sound like fits their targeted borrower @guest_647876
