One of the more popular ways to bypass the Chase 5/24 rule is by applying through a ‘selected for you’ offer with a green tick mark. Unfortunately it looks like this method might no longer work, specifically data points from the start of March on wards are showing denials and no approvals for those over 5/24. The data points (1, 2, 3, 4) were originally found by U.S. Credit Card Guide. Keep in mind they aren’t in english, but you can use google translate to confirm for yourself.
Data Points
- Didn’t bypass 5/24: 1, 2, 3, 4 (these are the original US Credit Card Guide data points) 1, 2, 3 [fixed APR], 4, 5, 6, 7, (these are our new datapoints)
- Did bypass 5/24:
In branch pre-approval data points:
I’d like to see some more data points from readers. Please use the following format:
- Are you sure you applied for a selected for you offer? Make sure you’re only providing datapoints regarding these offers. More information on them here.
- Did you apply after March 1st? We are only interested in new datapoints. If you did apply after March 1st, what date did you apply?
- What is your chase 5/24 status and total?
- What card did you apply for?
Fingers crossed that we get some datapoints showing approvals!

I was just approved for the freedom and I am at 6/24. The selected for you offer worked for me!
Congrats!
Of the 6 Accounts that were opened in the last 25 months 1) How many were opened with the last 12 months 2) How many were opened in the last 6 months 3) How old were other Chase accounts
I got approve for CSR through "select for you". Over 11 accounts in last 25 months. I think it's back.
Congrats!

I am well over 5/24. I was just approved for a credit card in Bank that I was pre-approved for. All they offered me though was the Slate card with no bonus or the $150 Freedom Plus Card which I decided to go for because why not.
My wife was auto-approved for CSP with a green checkmark on 3/17 at 5/24. Full disclosure 1 account is kohls and 1 is AU but 5/24 on CR and no recon needed
Store credit cards don't count towards 5/24
Looks like in branch is mostly OK
There's multiple datapoints on this thread showing approvals though, I've added them to the post to make it clearer.
This is a little different but I received an offer in the mail for the southwest card and was denied due to 5/24. This was back in January. I don't know if it was always like that or if that is a recent change. Funny thing is I got 2 more offers after my denial. When I called the recon line, they very rudely said those were just advertisements.
Yeah, those mailings have always been 5/24. They are from the marketing department, not underwriting. You would think they could save a fortune in mailings if they got together and only sent to people they would actually approve.
Sorry to say but after it is being touted so many times in so many places online, it is little wonder that Chase is not aware of such loophole and has ordered its IT dept to fix it. Or a big wonder that such loophole has lasted this long.
I guess by the same token, nobody now would be complaining why their business log in or business/personal combined log in would not show the "Select for You" offers. Matter of fact, the one and the ONLY data point that the business log in had it and ever worked was one blog from some "sisters" 2 years ago. Have not read anything supported that notion ever since. Yet hope springs eternal as always.
Chase basically give us a choice - either you go promiscuous with other banks out there or you be restrained and then get their best cards once you behave for 2 years.
Many 2-player households have planned so accordingly since the 5/24 was put in place - and actually over 2 years now. Hence the first rotation has started in such household.
Exactly! I thought it was a brilliant marketing strategy, not a loophole...
I'm done with Chase. Had my wife apply for CIP and she is 2/24. She just started a business last year. So, revenue is still < $10K. Rejection letter after seeing the 7-10 day message. Called recon and the mean lady said my wife has too much credit available thru other banks and doesn't need a CIP.
I think Chase is digging a hole going after only the 5-star clients. I think they are looking for Unicorn customers that never apply for credit, have high income and willing to pay an annual fee perpetually. Good luck to them.
The "offer" also showed a variable APR.
I applied for CFU through selected offers. "Green check".
I applied on March 13th and I was at 8/24. I had applied through selected offers for CSP last summer and was approved at 6/24.
Instant denial. Failed Recon x2 due to "too many cards" in last 2 years.
