Chase To Drop Price Protection & Return Protection Across ALL Cards (Including CSR)

Update 04/23/18: Previously the Chase Sapphire Reserve was still listing price protection as a benefit. This has now also been removed from the application page and is no longer being advertised. Keep in mind this card has an annual fee of $450.

Earlier today we posted a story about the fact Chase is removing price protection, return protection and lowering insurance on the United cards. Reader Brian T points out that price and return protection is no longer listed on the landing pages for any Chase cards. If you compare to previous landing pages you’ll see what we are talking about:

Another example is going to the landing page here and then clicking ‘service and protection’. Price and return protection are no longer listed. The only exception is the Chase Sapphire Reserve, this card still lists return protection as a benefit but price protection is not listed at all. It’s not clear how the travel insurance benefits will change on Chase branded cards, Sapphire Reserve is still showing the old insurance terms. This is definitely a major negative change, lose of price and return protection didn’t matter that much on United cards because they generally aren’t used for every day purchases but cards such as the Chase Freedom Unlimited & Chase Freedom are very much used for those types of purchases.

I suspect these changes will go into effect on the same date as the United changes for existing cardholders (June 1st, 2018). Worth pointing out that it was rumored that Chase would be cutting price protection across all cards earlier this year as well. Get Chase’s attention by retweeting this. You can view other cards that offer price protection here.
