At the end of 2017 Chase released the United TravelBank card, at the time I said that I couldn’t see a reason why anybody would get this card as plenty of other cards offer 2% cash back on all purchases whereas this offered 2% back in United TravelBank credit. The Chase United TravelBank card is no longer accepting new applications and I suspect has been discontinued completely, but there has been no official word from Chase. Chase also removed the Chase Slate application page recently, but I suspect that is temporary and we will eventually see that card again.

It’s also the only no AF card from Chase with no FTF.
oh, can people still downgrade to it? mmm.... was planning to downgrade to it when my UA card annul fee date comes up.
I tried to downgrade to that card recently from my old UA Select VISA. No dice. They only offered the no-AF MileagePlus card that earns 1/2 per dollar.
The reason why you have this card is because it was one of the few credit cards that still have price protection. And it's the only one I know of that has price protection and no annual fee.
Rakuten VISA has price protection.
yep. which is why I down graded from explorer to this. I hope they dont discontinue it.
Maybe they'll open the base MP card to applications? Like the UA version of the Bold.
one of the rare cards on the market that offers price protection
Changing the title to "Chase United TravelBank Card No Longer Accepting Applications" might make this post more understandable to readers.
Done
why would people apply for this card anyway?
Hello. Hmm I wonder how this will affect me. I downgraded the United mileage plus card to the travel bank card. It still shows in my chase account.
Maybe a rebrand to match the AA MileUp and Delta Blue no AF cards.
Seems reasonable, given how the 2 no AF United options are not competitive. But launching a new airline card in the middle of a pandemic seems like odd timing. Though I think First Hawaiian bank just released their new United card, so maybe.
I know the other no AF card (Mileage Plus) is supposed to give you expanded domestic award availability and a 25% bonus with MPX gift card purchases (like the Explorer card)--does the Travelbank?
Seems likely this will also allow United to phase out TravelBank completely, which they'd already done with the exception of the earnings of that particular card.
