Our Verdict

Previously this card had no signup bonus, but a waived $525 annual fee the first year; this new offer does not waive the fee, but gives 100,000 points – a much better deal. We saw this 100k offer at card launch as well.

The United Explorer card also just increased its signup bonus to 60,000 points. Given that most of us won’t be able to make tons of use on the Infinite’s premium benefits, it probably makes more sense to just save yourself the $525 annual fee and go for the Explorer card. If you’ll actually use the benefits, that obviously changes the story.

  • Will online gift cards work for the $75 ihg credit? Most likely a physical GC at an IHG hotel is the safest option for triggering the credit IMO. Data points needed

  • I wish they allow one guest to the united club. too bad just cardholder.
actually they do allow 1 guest and one dependent if they travel with card holder

  • Keep in mind you can use miles to pay the AF at 1.5 cpp, so 35k miles. Makes it a 65k sub after washing out AF.

      • I believe it's all their cards, but the 1.5 cpp is a promotional rate they occasionally have if I recall correctly. Around this time last year I was considering doing that same thing but the promotion was ending sooner than I was comfortable with so I decided against it

  • P2 here took them up on the other card's initial 40K offer and she switched offers via SM to the 60K. They sent four club passes to her but the clubs are all closed indefinitely except for three, which I can imagine will be constantly at capacity. She generated a referral link for me and clicking through it led to the 60K offer, so we'll see if she gets the 10K, we'll see if I get the 60K, and we'll also see if I get four of those useless passes, which if so might find their way onto Ebay.
Can't imagine who would value the United Club membership that comes with the $525 AF when nearly all the clubs are closed and the ones left open are strictly capacity-controlled.

    • if you aren't 5/24 (chase rule) and space the applications by a month to be safe i don't see why not.
