Our Verdict

Previous offer was for 65,000 miles but required $10,000 in total spend. Even though this is 5,000 miles less considering the spend requirement is so much smaller I definitely think this is the better deal. This is the best deal we’ve seen as other similar deals still required $8,000 in spend. Most people won’t be eligible due to the 5/24 rule, but with the introduction of the Sapphire 48 rule I’m guessing more and more people are using a 5/24 slot on this card. There is also business offer for 100,000 miles. I’ll be adding this to our list of the best credit card bonuses.

  • I charged around $9,800 on this card over 3 months and then switched back my spending to a Chase UR card.
Last time I churned this card in 2018 there was a 4k mile bonus for spending $10k-$25k the first year.
Does that apply this time around, too?
I will charge another few hundred $ to the card and report back my results...

    • DOC made a new post about the new renewed offer. I didn't see 4k but there is a 2500 mile bonus if you see the reader tip on bottom. 62,500 miles essentially.

  • How quickly is the card churnable? Is it 1 year between application date or bonus or something else? Thanks
Note - I'll wait for 60K bonus to come back

  • I feel this card is a scam regarding it's "bonus miles" for new cardmembers. I bought two roundtrip flights on 3/7/20 through the United App. I applied for, and was approved for the United Mileage Plus Explorer card that same day while paying for the purchases on the new card. I saw the EXACT screen like the screenshot above, and the 60000 miles offer as stated was good through 4/2/20. I charged the required $3000 in barely 45 days, nearly half the time required, and they only gave me 25000 bonus miles. I have been emailing Chase back and forth when logged into my account and they are denying the 60000 is tied to my account. I even sent them the screenshot with the write up on this doctor of credit website. They are telling me to go jam it. I have asked for supervisory escalation as I have spent 2 hours of my life now dealing with this nonsense.

  • Possibly last day of the offer. I think it changes to 50k miles for May. Not sure what date.
60k miles + 2500miles offer still valid as of today the 30th.

10k drop is miles is quite a bit.

  • Glad to see this offer is still available. Too bad i'm at 6/24 and not eligible. I wish they'd allow to bypass 5/24 during these times...

  • In terms of your verdict, @will , any thoughts on whether people should hold out on mileage and points cards right now 1) because of potential massive devaluations, 2) potential bankruptcies (before we can freely travel again!), or 3) the impact the economic crisis could have on future offers (reason to believe offers could rise due to fewer qualified applicants AND devaluation - and if the offers fall, decreased offerings will probably reflect other issues that are hindering travel, such as insolvency). I know none of us has a crystal ball, but since you've also linked to a SW story that discusses labor renegotiations, and that story links to a United story that says employees will be laid off on 1 October, the industry certainly believes the impacts will be severe and longterm. All of this to say, I'm leaning toward cash back cards, but value your analysis/insight/speculation and would be glad to read it in a post.

  • i was told the 2500 bonus offer is valid through July now if not all the time. It gets tacked on top of whatever the current offer of the month/quarter is.

I don't know how long the 60k for 3k current offer will continue but I wish I grabbed it instead of the 65k for 10k spend offer in Jan.

Box is next to mileage plus number box on application. If the box still exists then the 2500 promo miles are live and valid.

I got my 2.5k a little less than 30 days after applying. Still have $ to spend to get my offer miles though.

    • Does the 2.5K inflight promo show up on your United account or your Chase account? I used the promo code, but because nobody is taking phone calls right now I can't get any concrete information on if my inflight promo registered.

  • Not bad but not amazing either. Weak compared to 100k biz card offer with AF. United's dynamic pricing devaluation has made me loss a lot of interest. Finding J or F saver space on where I want to go is damn near impossible most of the time (LIH, PPT). 110k for LH in F to FRA was great but one of the few gems.
