Chase United PresidentialPlus Card Annual Fee Being Increased To $450 From $375/$395

Chase used to offer the United PresidentialPlus card, the card has since been discontinued but existing cardholders have not been product changed to other cards. You can view the benefits of this card here.

Cardholders should have received a letter from Chase in late April stating that their annual fee will be increasing to $450 (in line with the Chase United MileagePlus Club Card) on July 20th. Previously cardholders annual fees were either $375 or $395 depending on when they signed up for the card. Chase is citing “standardizing terms for cardmembers who have the same type of account” as the reason for these changes.

The primary benefit of this card is the United Club membership, customers that are Lifetime Club members are only charged an annual fee of $100 because of this. Lifetime Club members also received the letter informing them of the annual fee increase, I asked Chase about this and they had the following response:

The change in annual fee was sent to PresidentialPlus cardmembers, including a small number of lifetime United Club members. Chase and United are aware of the situation and are looking into it.

  • I guess similar letter will eventually come to those who pay higher and lower AF on CSP and RC respectively.

  • It pretty much means that this product line is being merged with Club card right? I'd really look forward that they can allow PC to the Old UA/CO Select card hhhh

    • Pretty much, but the presidentialplus has some elite qualifying miles benefits as well I think.

      • Right, it's still a different product than Club. It earns 1x rather than Club's 1.5x, but it also earns "Flex PQM", which are elite qualifying miles that can be rolled over and applied as needed, over multiple years. Nice card to have if you're a United flyer. The Club card doesn't offer any kind of elite qualifying miles.
