Update 01/10/18: There is now a link for the $500 bonus. Unlike previous $500 bonuses you can open a Citibank Account Package rather than having to do the Priority Account Package. This makes that deal slightly more attractive but still not worth doing. Hat tip to reader Sam.

Our Verdict
They have offered similar/the same bonus in the past. Last time it was offered there was a $500 bonus but that required depositing $50,000. This bonus also does not require a direct deposit whereas the other one did. You need to remember you’ll need to deposit the $15,000 for the $300 bonus and $50,000 for the $500 and have it in the account for at least sixty days. Realistically you’ll need the account open longer than that as it needs to actually post and you’ll have to pay the $25 monthly fee if the $10,000 balance requirement isn’t met. In any case let’s see how much interest you’d miss out on if you had $15,000 in this account for 60 days compared to other high interest savings accounts:
- 0.1%: ~$2.5
- 1%: ~$25
- 3%: ~$74
- 5%: ~$123
Probably still worth doing for most people as even at 5% the $300 bonus is a lot more than the interest lost. Just be prepared to chase Citi down for the bonus as they often don’t post quickly. If we look at the same but for $50,000 we get:
- 0.1%: ~$8.2
- 1%: ~$82
- 3%: $246
- 5%: $410
A lot less attractive and not worth doing. I’d just stick to the $300 bonus. I’ll add it to our best checking bonuses page.

Worth doing I guess, but as others have mentioned, Citi seems like a clunky, slow-moving behemoth to deal with. Felt like it took forever to crank out this bonus. Also, $10-15k tied up for more than 4 months = approximately $80 in lost interest earnings at 1.85%.
Hi Nathan, did you have to send Citi any tax-related documents?
The biggest thing that pisses me off about Citi? What country are you getting next. Opening the account you get the good old USA. Playing where's my bonus you get Mexico or India. Seems like it should be the other way around. I'm far from racist. But I need to speak with someone who speaks American English. Citi, why don't you have departments in the USA that handle promotions?

I never received any email.
In the process of "chasing" them to get the bonus. Did what was required. Waited "FOREVER"(about 6 months). Finally talked to a supervisor who said she'd apply it to my account. Keeping my fingers crossed. Game players just like us churners.
Citibank has displayed some shady activity ... not only did I not receive my $300 bonus at the depositing 15,000 for over six months they actually charged fraudulent these to my account and when I called the one 800 customer service number I was told maybe there’s a special bonus that the bank had only
DP: Funded $15k 2/22/18, reqs met 4/23, Citi email saying 'Earned $300' 6/7, Received $300 bonus 6/12/18
DP: Deposited funds 02/12, conditions met 04/12, email received 06/07.
I deposited the $15k in early February so it has been more than 90 days. When is the bonus supposed to post? Others here have reported receiving the bonus already and they deposited the $15k after I did.
I was in the same boat as you. Met the requirements in early February. Finally got an email today that I qualified for the bonus. It says it will post in 30 days, but hopefully sooner.
When exactly did you deposit the $15k? I'm still waiting for the email.
2/9. Hopefully your's is coming soon.
Woohoo!! Just got the $300 email!! So it's a deposit of $15k within X days in any amounts as long as you deposit at least $15k in the required time frame.
In the past I got the bonus in a few days after receiving the email.
I opened this account on 3/7. It was a big hassle getting all my required documents to Citi which I had to do several times by mail and fax. Finally my account was approved on 3/23 and funded with 15K on 3/23. I met the 60 days 15K balance on 5/23. I have still been keeping 15K balance in this account till today. Is it safe to withdraw 5K and move it to a savings account that gives me 1.65%? Will this affect me from getting the $300 bonus in any way? Any suggestions would be really helpful.
@RB - You cal pull $5k after 60 days from depositing. I waited 90 for some reason, but I still got the bonus email after pulling the $5k. And other here have pulled at exactly 61 days and received the bonus.
@ Ken - Thank you! Will go ahead and withdraw 5K.
Is this $15k required in checking and savings accounts combined or is it required in checking account?
My deposit was 2/13 so hopefully soon. I did a $10 deposit and then a $14,990 deposit and the terms are a bit vague about needing $15k deposited or in 1 deposit only.
My $300 bonus just posted :)
What's the best way to close account? ACH out and then chat to close? Checking disabled SMs already so that's no longer an option.
DP for bonus:
-Opened and funded 1/2 (faced weeks of issues w/ account opening)
-Pulled out $5K on 4/2
-Received "congrats" email on 5/9
-Bonus posted 5/15
