Personal offer is no longer valid and has expired.
This offer is particularly appealing at the moment due to the fact that lots of people are being successfully matched to 75,000 points.
The Offer
- Citi / AAdvantage Platinum Select World Elite MasterCard is offering 60,000 miles after $3,000 in spend within the first three months.
Card Details
- Annual fee of $95 is waived the first year
- Contains one American Airlines bonus per 24 month language
Our Verdict
It has been possible to get this offer for some time by calling in and asking to be matched, but it’s always nice to not have to do that. Most people will not be eligible due to the following language:
- American Airlines AAdvantage® bonus miles are not available if you have had any Citi® / AAdvantage® card (other than a CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® card) opened or closed in the past 24 months.
We discuss this rule in more depth here. Before applying read these things you should know about Citibank. This is the best offer on this card. How good this offer is really depends on how much you value American Airline miles, most people value them significantly less than they used to due to non existent saver award space so keep that in mind. If you are eligible, I’d personally apply just to get that 24 month ticking (and that way if bonuses without this language come along, you can take advantage of them even if they aren’t the “best” offer).
There is also a 60,000 mile bonus on the business card. You can get that bonus even if you’ve had a personal card before (and vice versa).

Hello,
I applied for this card on September 7, was rejected because of insufficient credit history .I had an EXP score of 743 according to their letter, 19 months of credit history, an average credit age of 1 year, not a single late payment in my life and 3-5% of credit usage. Called the recon line with no luck and sent a recon request letter on September 14. Yesterday I received a preapproved letter for this very same card, do you think this is coincidence or would have something to do with the recon request letter? Should I apply with the preapproved code? Before this I only received offers for the lower tier AAdvantage Gold card.
I have an email invite to the AA platinum select world elite MC (whew!)
I may or may not be able to use the AA miles. I am wondering if this program allows me to use the miles for statement credit or other travel charges such as a cruise, gift cards, etc.
My wife and I are retired. We have amassed tons of AA miles via credit card offers. While it is true that it is difficult to find business class saver awards, they can be found most of the time if one is very flexible. Right now my wife just flew business class and first class, saver, to Narita from Tampa. But, I could not find her a return flight at saver level, so had to do standard level. Oh well, still a great deal as those ticketw would have cost $9500. In the fall we have a return flight from Budapest to Miami (need to rent a car and drive home from there) at the saver level via Air Berlin and AA....that was tough to find and avoid British Air......even Iberia was not available or Air Berlin, trans Atlantic. Going, I had to use United Miles for Austrian Air. Yes, it is tougher, but still possible most of the time.
Can you receive the sign up bonus twice on the Barclay Red Aviator card?

Hi guys, i recently applied for the 60k pulic offer which has the 24 month language and got approved (yet to receive the card). I also have a 65k targeted offer. Can i complete the spend on 60k, get my points, close the card and then apply for the 65k? Can I double dip to get the points twice?
Please help. Thank you.
Does the targeted offer have the language that says you're not eligible if you've opened/closed an AA card in the last 24 months? If so then you won't be eligible but you should be able to upgrade to the 65k offer by calling in. Hope that helps.
I applied for the public 60k miles, 3k spend offer on 29 May 17. I received a targeted mail offer for 65k miles for 4k spend in 4 months with an additional 2k spend within 12 months of opening the card today (10 Jun 17). I am attempting to get matched to the 65k offer, but the chat representative could not help and directed me to call their customer service phone line.
Try calling in
so they credited 5k extra miles to my account without changing my spend requirement. received a letter today stating this change so about ~2 weeks
awaiting a decision in 7-10 business days from their marketing department after calling
Any idea when does this offer expire?
Send a SM to successfully match the 60k offer to the targeted 65k offer for same spend.
The same spend meaning $3,000 or $4,000? I thought the 65K offer requires $4,000 whereas the 60K one requires only $3,000.
I have Barclay AAdvantage® Aviator™ Red World Elite MasterCard now. If I apply for this card, am I still qualified for the 60K bonus?
Thanks.
Yes
thanks William for the quick response. Although I am hesitating to make pick one between this AA card and Amex SPG to apply for. Any idea for which one is more valuable? Thanks.
I thought I closed my last Citi AA card over 2 years ago. So I applied and got instant approval. Haven't received the card yet, but I looked up my record and found that my last Citi AA account was closed in Nov 2015. Looks like I won't be getting the bonus. Huge mistake.
Any suggestions what I can do here?
1. Is there any chance Citi would make an exception to the 24-month rule if I call them?
2. If I won't be getting the bonus, can I choose not to activate the card, or request Citi to close it right away? If I do so, would the card still show up in my credit reports?
Appreciate any insights.
