Citi Auto-Converting Premier Cards To Strata Premier

Reddit users report that Citi has automatically converted their Premier cardholders to the newly branded Strata Premier card. And so any updated benefits should automatically apply now.

  • I literally just applied for the Citi Premier (not showing Strata) and got approved on 5/10, wanted to try to double dip, got an email a couple days later saying that my "strata" card is on the way, wonder if I will automatically get the 75k SUB or not...

      • It will not. I called and they said it’s 60k. Asked to match, called twice, got transferred to several people. Finally, their supervisor said we can submit a request but cannot guarantee. You will receive a letter with the decision.

  • i don't think airbnb counted as the 3x travel category previously on premier, but is it still the case on strata? the "other hotel" category doesn't seem too clear

    • did a dummy booking for aibnb since i saw someone else do the same and cancel; will report back (if it qualifies it would be under "travel agencies" category i guess)

  • Mine changed as well. Assuming this is not a bug (never know with Citi) the 'Strata' must be just a marketing thing. I've had Citi cards for close to two decades now, when they make a product change they usually issue a warning in advance and give an option to opt out.

  • Like others, my Citi Premier card now shows as Strata Premier. But, when I click on the benefits for the card, it's still listed as Citi Premier - showing those benefits. For example, no mention of 3x points on EV charging (only mentions gas stations) nor the 10x travel categories thru CitiTravel. I wonder if all has converted or are in the process of conversion.

  • Crap. They converted me. I log into the website and now it says,
    "Citi Strata Premier"

      • Theoretically you now have access to whatever credit card protections citi is offering on the strata premier. I haven’t seen that fine print yet

          • T&C for strata say "Air Travel and Other Hotel Purchases: Includes purchases at airlines, hotels (not booked through the Citi Travel site via CitiTravel.com), and travel agencies." so it seems like 3x from travel agencies is still good to go.

  • Does that mean the citi premier holders can't apply for a new card member bonus?

    • I'm wondering that too. I have a Premier that got the bonus more than 48 months ago. It has been converted to Strata Premier. The only reason I've kept the Premier is to have lots of transfer partners (I get 2500 points a month with my Custom Cash). If I want the SUB, I'm guessing I can PC it to a second Custom Cash or cancel it. Looking for data points.

    • It's just a matter of when you previously got the Premier bonus. You have to wait 48 months after you received the Premier SUB to be eligible for the Strata Premier SUB.
