Our Verdict

The latest best offer was 60,000 points online or 70,000/75,00 in branch; this online offer is at 80,000, highest ever. Lately some people are getting an option to redeem points on the Premier for a straightforward 1 cent-per-point, hopefully that will work for you if you want cash from this.

As always make sure you read these things everybody should know about Citi credit cards before applying. We’ll add this to our list of the best credit card sign up bonuses.

  • Added premier to my portfolio last year, met SUB requirements and cashed out SUB.
Annual fee is coming up in early Jan is the best option to close or product change ?
If PC which one is the best card to change to ? Does that card have its own SUB which I have to forego if I PC to it?

  • Any Citi premier offer with 24months language churning rule instead of 48months? if yes pls send it to me

  • @will Up to 75,000 points if you just search for the card on the citi website. Says limited time.

  • A redditor has noticed that the SUB is up to 75,000 points as a "limited time offer"... A sign that Strata is imminent?

  • Will a product change considered as account closed for the bonus? Applied one back on January 2021 and changed to customer cash February 2022.
"Bonus ThankYou Points are not available if you have had a ThankYou Preferred, ThankYou Premier, Rewards+ or Citi Prestige card opened or closed in the past 24 months"

  • Does this card not get 3x for Air Travel for flights booked on Citi travel portal ?
I booked a flight via Citi Travel portal last night. Now I am worried since the pending transaction is showing as tour operator category and not as Airlines/Flights.
Will the category change automatically after charge posts or do I have to fight for 3x points on this transaction ?

  • Are the Citi ThankYou points for the Premier card 1 point = $0.01? I have Citi double cash and it is 1 point = $0.01 but I am seeing some places saying that it may vary by product and for Premier it is only $0.005. I am trying to figure out if the 60,000 or 80,000 bonus for the Premier is really worth $600-800 or only $300-400. I do see that they mention that it says 60,000 points can be redeemed for $600 gift cards, just not seeing mention of cash. Thanks

    • its $800. Use your desktop to redeem. I didn't get a option-to redeem for statement credit for full value (1 points = $=.01) on the phone but no problem finding it on the desktop version.

  • Trying to redeem this sign up thank you points bonus as cash(direct deposit to my checking). Is this $850 possibly gonna receive a 1099 next year?

    • I didn't get a 1099 for my 2022 cash redemption, wasn't expecting one. I never get one for CC bonuses.

      • Generally CC bonuses that aren't upfront cash are seen as non-taxable post-purchase rebates (e.g. spend $4000 and get 80,000 points worth $800) by the IRS.

But I'm just someone on the internet and not a tax professional :D

  • Follow up to my comment on 1/4/23 re the 80k SUB offer. Passed on it, got a new mailer today for the 60k SUB offer - higher spend and longer duration, $6k spend over 6 months and AF is not waived. I thought about the higher offer a couple of weeks ago, ended up getting a Chase Ink Unlimited instead.

My CSR AF just landed and will PC it to a Freedom card and likely MDD later this year when the two Sapphires have higher SUB offers, a better option IMHO over the Premier card for my needs.

  • Was able to snag the 80k offer a few weeks back, but Citi gave me an absurdly low CL of 2k. Anybody know if they penalize you for making multiple payments per statement cycle? I wanna get the spend over with without waiting two cycles.
