FWIW my travel plan changed after transferring to Cathay Pacific, and now I find it very difficult to burn the miles. Also, they require you to either earn or redeem miles every 18 months. Highly recommend that you reconsider transferring to Cathay Pacific unless you fly Cathay Pacific frequently or have a concrete plan for flying to/from HKG.
