Citi has announced that it will be ending it’s price match program called Citi Price Rewind on September 22nd, 2019. Purchases made before that date will still be eligible for price matching under the same terms as before. Last year in July Citi announced changes to it’s price rewind program to lower the maximum benefit per claim and per year. Last year we also saw Chase & Discover remove price matching. Update: Actually Citi is Removing MOST Benefits From All Cards On September 22 [Trip Cancellation & Delay, Ticket & Return Protection, Car, Etc. ]

Is Citi Rewind on the Double Cashback card?
Yup
I was planning on getting the Citi double cash card solely because of this feature. But because of this change, it has helped my decision further not to get the card. Combined with the nerfing of Mastercard benefits, looks like Mastercard is no longer appealing to me either.
Damn I enjoyed the stress free holiday shopping on Prime Day, Christmas, etc. Just buy it before, show price change proof, get money. its a shame only one now with no af is wells fargo :(
Terrible news! On the other hand, makes my life easier with product changing from Prestige to a no-fee TY card. I was considering keeping it or going to Premier, but see no real point now. I just gotta figure out which no-fee card I can switch to and keep my TY points.
Sad to see this feature going away. Had saved 100s of $ last year. Now will have to really do research on the price point before buying anything expensive.
I specifically said I will cancel my Double Cash if the price rewind feature goes. I have the PayPal Cashbacks card, so with no min redemption or FTF, it is a much better card now.
All the more reason to keep my US bank altitude reserve. for an effective $75 annual fee i get trip cancellation, trip delay, baggage delay and loss, primary rental car insurance. The Priority pass (PP) I can get from other cards and I don't live in a city with PP restaurant
I still have other cards for price protection.
I suspect they're cutting ties with the insurance company backing all these benefits : "Virginia Surety Company" if i recall correctly. It can't be a coincidence that these all seemed to be backed by them. Maybe they'll replace some of the benefits piecemeal, or maybe they're just on a cost-cutting charge... who knows.
Looks like Citi is removing virtually all benefits, including the extended warranty on the Dividend card. Thankfully the Costco card is not changing. This is definitely sad, because the 5% categories and extended warranty were great for big ticket items.
The following is a summary of changes that are being made to your card benefits.
Effective September 22, 2019, Worldwide Car Rental Insurance, Trip Cancellation & Interruption Protection, Worldwide Travel Accident Insurance, Citi® Price Rewind, 90 Day Return Protection, Damage & Theft Purchase Protection, and Extended Warranty will be discontinued and will no longer be provided for purchases made on or after that date. Coverage for purchases made before that date will continue to be available, and you may continue to file for benefits in accordance with the current benefit terms.
We are making these changes so that we can continue providing the key benefits that our customers use and value most at no additional cost. This change requires no action on your part. See FAQs under Card Benefits for answers to Frequently Asked Questions regarding these changes.
As a cardmember, you will continue to receive a range of other card benefits including FICO® Credit Score, Citi® Identity Theft Solutions, and Citi Entertainment.
Yikes, nerfing their cards into oblivion. Prestige can no longer be considered a real competitor to CSR and Amex plat now. Sad to see citi go so low.
Its amazingly coincidental that I was just thinking of filing a price rewind claim and this article was posted on doc. Does price rewind pay if the item is posted at a lower price and with a sitewide 15% coupon on the site is even lower but is sold out currently?
Two questions basically-
1) Does it work if the item is sold out ?
2) Does it consider the after coupon price to calculate the price difference?
Jags +1 - You can use it if the item is sold out. I do regularly.
Chase won't let me price match 'temporarily out of stock' though, even through a CFPB claim.
No you can't use coupons for price rewind. No you can't if it's sold out. read T&C.
Thanks
Nothing with a coupon counts. There might be T&C regarding being sold out but I have never seen them enforce it.
Thanks
