Our Verdict

We’ve seen a different kind of signup bonus on this card in the past with 5% back during the first year on up to $6,000 spend. That offer is still valid as well if you prefer. This is a nice straight-up $200 with low $500 spend offer which a lot of people will find appealing.

Good to see an offer from a less-used bank. I don’t know how difficult they are with approvals. We’ll add this to our list of Best Credit Card Signup Bonuses.

  • Did anybody try to pay for Global Entry? Did Citizens paid for the fee or TSA precheck fee only strictly?

  • 8/31 - P2 signed up for card
9/10 - approval email, card received & activated 1-2 weeks later
    11/1 - reached $500+ spending before 90 days
3/22 - still no bonus, P2 called card services, spoke with rep who spent a few minutes verifying some things, confirmed eligibility for bonus, submitted request to issue $200 credit, said it will take another 1-2 statement cycles

P2 meant to call sooner but just never got around to it. Hopefully the credit posts sooner than expected.

      • P2 received $150 to cash back balance on 4/3. Didn't even realize it should have been $200 until checking this page right now to reply. Can confirm P2 did specify on phone that the missing credit was $200. Very likely that the rep issued request to issue spending reward, and promo dept issued reward amount currently being offered for new signups ($150) instead of reward amount at time of P2's signup ($200).

P2 will probably call in next couple days. Have screenshots of signup and offer just in case.

  • Has anyone actually received the $150 bonus? I spent over $500 about 2 months ago but still no bonus. I must say citizens is a very shady bank and their website is the worst.

    • I agree with your feelings.
I open a checking account. 4 months later no bonus.
Mh wife opened 5 months ago. No bonus. She called 3 times. I called 2 times. They say they will reach me to check it. Still waiting. Usually bonus cime alone, never need to call.
      Citizens Is a rotten bank.

  • Applied and didn't get an auto-approve notice or an email. I received the card in the mail about 12 days later. Signed up for the $150 bonus after $500 spend.
**Cash back rewards EXPIRE if you do Not make an eligible purchase every 12 months with this card.

  • Bad news - 5% link doesn’t enroll into 5% offer 👎 I got 1.8% for my testing transaction 😿

    • @will @chucksithe Guys remove 5% link. It seems to be somebody's targeted and it doesn't work to enroll into 5% promo. I had to call Citizens rewards rep and they told me that 5% promo is not available. They enrolled my card manually into 3% promo though.

  • It took 15 days after application to receive the card. No emails or snail mail, I had to call to ask the status of my application and they told me that it was sent. When I received it, nothing in the papers indicates that there is 5% cb offer, it only says it’s 1.8% cb. In online banking the same. I don’t feel very excited about this card now. I applied from the link above and now I wonder if it’s even working. This link is not public. I have all the screenshots just in case I will have to contact Citizens about it. I made first “testing” purchase and waiting for it to post and to show rewards earned.

    • Omg. Sorry to hear that. Hope that your bonus will be posted without any hassles or drama @guest_1483147

      • Thank you Jack. It’s not a bonus, I didn’t get 5% cb on the card. But I am still glad with 3% offer on 25K spending. It is $750 after all.

          • Got it, Racoonzel. I saw your DPs on funding CDs in another CU. Let us know if you're able to use this Citizens cc to fund the CDs. @guest_1483147

  • 5% CB offer link says it expires 3/31/2023 and 3% CB offer expires 2/12/2022. Why such a difference? I wonder if 5% offer really will be available till March 31? I am not familiar with this bank and their cc offers, is it certain that 5% offer will last till March, or they can remove it?

I got approved for 5% offer and we are thinking to apply for P2 too, but he just got another 2 cards recently and would be good to wait till March actually.
