Avoiding Fees

There are no monthly fees for this account and the $5 membership fee is waived as well. I didn’t see any mention of an early account termination fee in the fee schedule.

Our Verdict

Looks like a great deal as it doesn’t specify what a deposit is, so I guess any deposit will count (e.g payroll not required). It’s nice that you can fund with a credit card as well. Will be adding this to our list of the best checking bonuses available.

  • Extremely Chex sensitive. I do live in service area.

    I have had 2 inquires this year March and June. Quite a bit last year though, currently at 21 in the past 2 years.

    Not worth the $100 for the Chex hit.

  • Add +1 to the "beat it list" online experience. Live in the service area.
    "Thank you for your interest. At this time your application has been denied".
    My Chex reported openings are 5 or 6 through 2024.

  • They have a referral promotion going on as well. Referrer get $50 and new member gets $100.

    According to terms, the $100 that the new member gets via referral is the same offer as just opening a new account so they won't stack.

  • New members only with no existing accounts. Bonus terms need to be updated. Current bonus only requires opening a checking or money market account plus activate digital banking.

  • No hard inquiry, but definitely ChexSystems sensitive. Just declined my online application because of that reason

  • Tried it. Denied for too many chex inquiries. DOES pull chexsystems.

    So does Citywide Banks, while I'm at it (tried at the same time and also got denied).

    Visited the branch near my house to ask about hard/soft pull. They told me it's a hard pull.

    Applied online. It was indeed a hard pull.

    Funded 2k with Chase CC. Reduced cash advance limit to $100 No issues.

      Hard pull. Had to call repeatedly (3x) to get the points added to my account and then cash out for $100. Chex sensitive. Not recommended, although the 2k in credit card funding was nice.
