• CommunityAmerica Credit Union has two bank bonuses currently available:
  • Open a checking account and receive a bonus of $100 when you maintain the qualifications for cash back requirements for a consecutive 31 days. Those requirements are:
    • Option 1:
      • Enrolled in eStatements
      • Monthly direct deposit of at least $250 posted to one deposit-suffix
      • 15 posted point-of-sale debit card transactions per month to a single checking-suffix
    • Option 2:
      • Enrolled in eStatements
      • 25 posted point-of-sale debit card transactions per month to a single checking-suffix
  • Open a savings account and receive a bonus of $50 when you complete the following requirements:
    • Reach a balance of $1,000 within 60 days and maintain the qualifications for cash back (see above) for a consecutive 31 days

The Fine Print

• Must qualify for membership, including being in good standing with the Credit Union.
• Offer expires 12/31/2018, unless otherwise indicated and may change or end without notice.
• Limit one per person.
• Those with existing checking accounts or accounts closed within the past six months do not qualify.
• All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them

Early Account Termination Fee

I don’t see any early account termination fee mentioned. Last time this bonus was offered the accounts need to stay open for six months otherwise bonus was forfeited.

Our Verdict

This bonus is a bit confusing, but it’s actually quite easy from my understanding. Here’s how I’d do it:

• Open free checking account & enroll in eStatements
• Complete 25 debit card transactions (this triggers the $100 bonus)
• Open savings account, deposit $1,000 (this triggers the $50 bonus)

That being said this bonus isn’t worth considering due to the hard pull (unless you really desperately need the $2,000 in credit card funding and even then it’s not great). Because of that this won’t be on the best checking bonus page.
