Should I expect this deal to be back again first week of December (looking at the date patterns)?
Fwiw, and I can't comment on rides, but eats isn't impacted by gc. We order from the same three places for well over a year (pre-gc balance). price is effectively the same within $2 each time (up / down). I always look, b/c they play so many damn games with the fees.
Uber DOES NOT increase ride price if you are using a gift card. If you wish, you can order the ride using a credit card and then change payment method to gift card during the ride, or even upto 1 month after the ride.
Uber is not stupid, that would be way too easy to prove. What they presumably do is fiddle with prices if you have a GC balance loaded to your account regardless of how you pay. I am personally not using it enough for rides to confirm or disprove. And they are also not sending Ubereats coupons to such accounts, that one I can kind of confirm.
Just checked three accounts on three phones. Two had gift card balances. Two were on Wi-Fi and one on data. All three Uber rides were within 65 cents of $50. Same for another check on rides the opposite direction at $85.
What are you saying?
A gift card did not change the price.
As someone living in SF...people are missing out on Waymo.
Also saw a buy 1 get 1 free deal on Papa Johns on Uber Eats...it still came out to $48 before tip. Insanity.
Insanity is ordering Papa John's :)

There are tons of comments on Costco website about Uber increasing the price if the gift cards are applied to the account. At this time, it's not worth it to buy uber gift cards, at least from Costco website. The question is: is the price increase only for the gift cards purchased from Costco?
This. I've noticed price hikes even when I don't have a GC loaded, but when they gave me a free 2-month Uber One, which gives you a 5% "discount" on each ride.
This should be class-action worthy.
confirmation bias
Just created a dummy uber account with another email address and compared to my actual uber account with $400 gc balance. Looking at rides such as to my local airport and a sample ride from Las Vegas airport to the Bellagio hotel, then third test for a ride in London, found prices for Uber x to be identical on both accounts (and in fact in the Las Vegas case the ride on the newly created account was 28 bucks while it was 26 bucks on my account with the high gc balance)
Account might be too new for Uber's algos to start messing with the fares. It needs to harvest some more user behavior data.
Good catch -- I would add all of the increases appear to be exclusive to Uber rides. I am not seeing anyone make this claim on UberEats orders (not to say it isn't happening).
The other noticeable caveats are people having issues with their Amex credit once these cards are applied to the account as well as Uber capping the amount of gift cards redeemable on a single account.
Clearly once applied these gift cards are having an impact at the account level, which makes it not worth the risk for me.
Damn, just bought one a week ago for $79.99! Oh well
@guest_1864450 Did you buy it at Costco.com? They have a great price adjustment policy (https://customerservice.costco.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/628). Haven't tried with gift cards myself.
I did, that's a good call, I'll submit a request, worst they do is say no!
I use them for Uber Eats at a favorite local place, prices are lower than GH and while you do pay a bit of an upcharge over ordering direct, these cards at 20% still gets me >10% off. During the summer they had a 40% off $15+ promo which when stacked with these GCs was a smokin hot deal.
Price match approved! $5 credited back to my card
Good tip! Just submitted a price match request. Interestingly, I ordered on 10/17 and it let me place another order on 10/24. It seems perhaps the promotion has reset the normal 14-day rule? We'll see if I can double dip on getting the promo price adjusted for my 10/17 order before the promo. *Fingers crossed*
Managed to buy 2 units twice today, through online purchase than buying at physical store to get $400 uber credit for $300!
That's the lowest I've seen in years!
Ride demand must be down severely. Matches what drivers tell me.
FYI Literally twice a month they're doing 20% off. I signed up just for these, will never step foot in a store.
They also do DoorDash for 20% off often.
PSA: You can use giftcards.com Visa eGC to buy these
BTW, it seems GiftCards.com hasn't run the Visa/Mastercard eGC promo for a while.
