The Wells Fargo Propel World card is ranked as one of our top credit card bonuses currently (mostly due to the fact that it probably won’t be available forever. It’s only available in branch or by phone currently). It comes with a 40,000 point bonus (worth $400 in statement credit) but you also get $100 in airline incidentals each year. I thought it would be useful to have a post on what does and doesn’t trigger these credits.
Note: Unlike other cards this is based on a card member year rather than a calendar year. So you can only get this credit once without paying an annual fee. You can read the official terms in full for this benefit here.
What Does Count?
I’ve only listed datapoints from 2017 onwards in this section.
- Alaska Airlines:
- eGiftcard: 1
- American Airlines:
- Delta:
- Southwest:
- United
What Doesn’t Count?
The following won’t trigger this reimbursement (I’ve included data pre-2017 here as I thought it would be unlikely they’d change what doesn’t count in a positive direction).
Final Thoughts

Travel Bank for United worked in two $50 buys (has worked at $100 in the past but did $50s to test). Unaccompanied minor fee for Delta over $100 did NOT credit and reps were utterly clueless about the situation. I asked them to mail me a copy of the current T&C and the airline credit isn't mentioned anywhere in it. Maybe some zombie coding that remains?
In January I did one 50, got the credit, then did another 50, got another credit. I passed my anniversary date so did 2 50 Travel Bank charges at once...and got one 50 credit. So I just tried another 50 to see if it picks up the second 50.
