Delta Actually Lowered Award Prices On Its China Route

When it comes to devaluing award programs, Delta is unrivaled in the airline space (Hilton does it’s best to keep up in the overall loyalty stakes). They first removed their award chart, now they devalue the program regularly without notice. US Credit Card Guide noticed that pricing on award flights to China has actually decreased. Here are the changes:

Old PricingNew Pricing
Economy40,00035,000
Business95,00085,000

I wonder if this is actually another mistake, or perhaps promotion awards have been loaded in without the announcement of the promotion yet? If Delta is lowering prices, something must be going on.

  • "If Delta is lowering prices, something must be going on."

    My favorite part of the whole article!

  • i think xiamen airlines is a delta partner, those flights cost under $300 one way from west coast to asia, tbh 40k points on airlines arent worth what they used to be worth with low cost asia-pacific carriers such like china eastern etc;

  • Slightly off topic, but I used Delta miles for intra-China travel last year, and it was a great deal. Ended up taking business class everywhere because it was only slightly more miles than economy.

  • Did Delta always pass along the YQ going from JFK to PVG? It's 85k miles for and $234.00 YQ for business.

    EDIT: After a little searching it appears they always had YQ.
