Delta Airlines is following United & American Airlines and has announced the removal of change fees. This change has been announced affect immediately for travel within the domestic U.S., Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands in Delta’s First Class, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort+ and Main Cabin (excludes basic economy). At this stage it’s unclear if this will apply to award tickets or not.

Gee, it's almost as if these airlines are all _colluding_ on their fee structure, but... Nah... They wouldn't do that.
Of course it excludes Basic Economy... ugh.
The cheapest tier is still subject to change fees so this Isn’t much different as asking to pay extra for insurance.
When one of the legacy airlines starts offering commission-free trades, then they will all have to.
COVID did the impossible. Improve the American flight experience, probably the worst in the world.
Even with all these positive changes, I'd argue that the U.S. airline in-flight experience is still the worst in the world. It'll take more than just some fee waivers to change that.
For now... They probably are just sick of dealing with requests or forced reimbursements. In 18 months once COVID is gone, then let me know if it sounds so sweet
