  • I haven't search Delta award flights ever. So LAX to SYD for 60K RT is not a good deal?
    TIA

    • If you have never searched Delta, you should be in for a shock. Rarely are there any sweet spots. Coach seats on a 13 hour flight isnt fun. They wont give up business class unless its hundreds of thousands each way, way more than most other programs. I dont see low level awards on Delta. I just searched to see if any space exists on the route you stated. Right now there are award tix available on AA, and Qantas, for some dates in premium economy and business class. There has been award inventory because Australia was locked down and demand is finally starting slowly. The real price for LAX-SYD is 120K one way coach. I got American/Qantas 80K one way business class flat bed. You tell me which one is better? There are no seats to LAX-SYD for 50K RT. Stating there are some Pacific awards does not mean there are all routes or that space is easy to find. You can calender search Delta. The search part is not hard. Getting anything decent is.

      • Your post makes me feel like AA sounds good. I'm invested in miles pretty heavily with United and Delta.. I use my United miles all the time because I always seem to find good availability for flights I need on United.. on Delta I have 100k miles I've never been able to use because I can't find any good availability :(

I'm wondering what's the fastest and best way to earn a lot of AA miles? Is there one good card that will get me on a path to lot of AA miles or another way? thanks! :)

I got most of my United miles from the Chase United card and most Delta miles from the AmEx Delta... I've gotten United miles from some Chase UR transfers.. oh wait I guess UR can be transferred to AA too? Is there one credit card you recommend tho for AA miles?

      • Correction there is space at 50K Round trip LAX-SYD on Basic Economy or 60K Main Cabin economy. Not alot of comfort for a long flight like that. The only thing you can hope for is an empty seat next to you. It sowrth it if you can pay up for at least an exit row.

  • It takes you to the +/- chart when you select one - it's cheaper to go on different days than they're offering according to that chart. They're saying DTW-CUN 31,500 + $108.xx sept. 11-17 but sept. 9-13,14,16 is only 23,000 + $108.xx

  • It seems to be very limited. For me, SFO/OAK/SJC to Carribean/Mexico was only to Cancun, PR, and Nassau for 17K/18K BE, 22k/23k main cabin rt and for specific dates in Sept. From SFO/SJC to Asia/Pacific, it's only to Tokyo, Seoul, Sydney, and Auckland for 70K to 82K BE, 80k to 114k main cabin rt. PPT was also a dropdown choice. Not sure what PPT is, but that destination apparently didn't fly from the Bay Area. Those 3/5 destinations to Carribean/Asia were it. The Asia dates were a little longer, from Sept to Nov, depending on the location.

I'm not sure about this 'sale', but I had booked SFO-TPE (Taipei, Taiwan) for Oct for 84K main cabin a few weeks ago, and it's still that rate. Not 50k, but in line with the miles needed for the Asia dropdown menu destinations. I think you can just search your specific destinations and look at the flexible award monthly map instead of the dropdown menu to see what the lowest rates are.

  • I've been tracking some Delta Asia award trips the last few weeks and those same trips are more expensive during the sale. 72K went up to 80k. Not seeing a sale.

    • I did find a lower fare on the LAX or SFO to BKK for 68k +$107.65 in January. It was 72k + $107.65.

  • Yesterday, the site had nothing, and none of the drop downs worked. Today it is working. I love their Caribbean sale. They're like very specific 1 or 2 weeks during hurricane season. No thank you.

  • It's still 100% free to cancel Delta award flights without any penalty fees is that correct? anyone?

Actually, haven't booked a Delta award flight before.. normally use United which is no fees now. I read somewhere on FlyerTalk that Delta is fee free but it's different than what the Delta web site says.. especially for international flights?

If anyone knows or has any recent experience.. please kindly share

    • I successfully cancelled an overpriced domestic first class ticket to New Orleans recently. Took about ten days for my miles to be refunded, but was easy to do.

        • Basic Economy on any airline is nonrefundable. Any other flight class has free cancellation, including for award travel. Have personally canceled Delta award trips last month.

          • Weird that my friend cancelled his delta domestic basic economy award ticket and did not have a cancellation fee. Miles were refunded in full. Is this a inconsistent policy?

          • AFAIK, basic economy affords you nothing, and you cannot cancel. That's what all the wording everywhere says. However, if there is a change in schedule of greater than xx hrs, or they want your spot because the flight is looking oversold, then maybe you can cancel w/o penalty. I've never tested out if I can cancel BE because I don't want to be in the position to find out that I can't cancel it when I want to cancel. It's just not worth it to me.

  • NYC to tel aviv for 95k miles round trip is the only half decent deal. JFK MEX at 40k round is alright too.
