Delta Devalues SkyMiles Partner Awards

Delta is the latest airline to devalue partner awards (United recently devalued partner awards again). As first noticed by Thrifty Traveler partner awards have increased by as much as 40%. Some sample increases:

  • Economy awards from the U.S. to Europe on Air France, KLM, and Virgin Atlantic. Previously 25,000 miles each way, now 35,000 miles.
  • Business awards from the U.S. to Europe on Air France, KLM, and Virgin Atlantic. Previously 75,000 miles, now 90,000 miles each way.

  • Skypesos are only useful for domestic redemptions when cash fares are low. About as un-inspirational of a currency as it gets.

    • Me too....I just paid cash(GC) to AA, hoping to get great value for my points post covid... but I'm afraid the airlines will devalue before things go back to normal...

  • Ugh, was churning through some Delta cards with P2. Now we gotta reassess what we can use. Lame

  • Meh, most of those 90K biz class seats were usually at 200K levels on the dates I wanted to fly unless I booked like 4 mo. in advance. The real devaluation happened about 5 years ago. Now with the COVID going on, I really not care that much.

    • Not only that, but the routes are insane. You have to spend a whole day flying both places and change planes multiple times. Ridiculous.

  • Really plan to dump Skymiles and never look back. P1 and P2 here only have about 200K left between us -- we're hoping one-way on AF from Asia to Europe next spring preferably in business. We'll see.

EDIT: as of today, this is still 90K on KLM. I checked ICN-BUD. AF also available at 90K
