My account does not show my status as staying the same until 2023... are others delayed seeing this update in their accounts as well? Just wondering if I need to reach out to them
Anyone know if MQS earned in 2021 will roll over into 2022 or is it only MQM? Guessing only MQM.
Wait, can someone clarify? I had Platinum medallion status in 2020 that was extended into 2021 because of COVID. It showed that I would be blue for 2022 since I didnt fly much this year.
Does this new press release imply that my platinum status will now be extended into 2022 as well and set to expire early 2023?
Thanks for any insight!
yes
They also made Basic Economy changeable until the end of 2021. Although, I have a Skymiles based ticket that doesn't allow changes, so maybe they're slowly rolling this out.
"...include giving those booked in Basic Economy the ability to make changes to their flights for travel occurring through Dec. 31, 2021, to help reduce calls to Reservations. Later this week, those customers will be able to manage their trips on delta.com and via the Fly Delta app."
Hoping competitors match... Here's looking at you AS.
Ugh, please no. The 75K giveaway needs to end. I’d be fine with rollover of 2021 miles beyond status into 2022, but they’ve been plenty generous. 50% EQM bonus for over a year and going through Sep. If that plus rollover EQM and status extension wasn’t enough for you, status shouldn’t matter because you never fly anyway.
Remember when delta tried to suppress votes in Georgia.
Do you have them on camera?
Currently a Platinum Medallion but SkyMiles Member for 2022.
All Medallion Qualification Miles (MQMs) will roll over to 2022 to qualify for 2023 Medallion Status – for the second year in a row.
Members who earn Status in 2021 will receive additional benefits, as a special thank-you for their continued flight activity: Starting Feb. 1, 2022, those who earned 2022 Status will clear for Complimentary Upgrades ahead of those at the same tier level whose Status was automatically extended, and Platinum and Diamond Medallion Members who have earned Status will be able to select Choice Benefits.
I am currently at 55,800 MDMs, so if I read this correct, all of them will go over even if I meet the MDM and MQD for 2022? Just want to be sure, in the past it would only be the 5,800K (aka the MDMs between the statuses after receiving Silver).
Just wondering if I should continue my MQD waiver (currently at 17K of 25K). Last year, I didn't make the MQD so I thought all my MDMs rolled over because of that. Thank you!
In normal years only the MQM above the highest tier you qualified for roll over. So if you had 55,800 but did not reach $3,000 MQD, none would roll over at all. If you qualified for Gold Medallion, 5,800 MQM would roll over. MQD and MQS never roll over.
Would recommend going for MQD Waiver because that + qualifying for your tier will both push you up the comp upgrade list - plus, only those that qualify for 2022 status outside of this extension will get choice benefits this year.
Thanks. I did see the piece about choice benefit and being above the statuses that got rolled over without meeting it in 2022.
Strangely a slight negative. I was only able to get Silver this year because of the rollover. I was hoping to have my excess rollover, and then be able to start daisy chain silvers with the excess that rolls over. Now I'll get to gold but have little excess. Still get that this is cool though.
You could always just undershoot on the MQD next year and still have a ton roll over. If you only make it to silver for 2023 then anything above the 25K will roll.
I guess by going a whole additionally year I might have rollover past gold, but I don't think I can avoid gold for another year. I was going to be at around 42k at the end of this year.
They also quietly updated the upgrade priority order with two more things! Fare Class Groupings rather than fare class is now the second determinant, and they added a 6th tiebreaker to give a small edge to those with Million Miler 🥴
Great news!! You all are always quick.
