Taxes and fees always kill these types of deals unfortunately.

Note that awards include luggage, etc.. they're not basic economy.
Not sure why you say that taxes/fees kills it, 20k delta +$180 round trip to London is a bargain.
I noticed yesterday that the miles were 24,000 for a trip I wanted to do next April and decided to put it off because the points would be that low next year too. But, after reading that it might be a flash sale I just purchased a roundtrip flight for 14 Apr-26 May, LAX-LHR. $181 tax/fees, with a credit from American express platinum works out great.
Also, it looks many dates past the ones that are listed works for the sale.
I saw the same thing on a past deal. I could have booked a plane ticket to Brussels around Christmas with 30k miles.
Just wanted to add that I also checked AMEX Travel site yesterday thinking I would just book that flight for 24,000 miles too on the AMEX site, but all of them were about 55,000 miles round trip. So, it's only available through Delta direct.
It is a bargain although I did book a trip to Paris for about 250 round trip recently.

I never check bags to Europe.
Waiting patiently for Delta deals to Europe for May/June. May not happen as it’s near peak time but here’s to hoping.
I got a deal in early March 2019 to Zurich for 26k RT. It’s nice to be there when the crowds aren’t, although the weather isn’t as good.
Yeah they usually don't offer peak timing
