  • Ah, the chase for that elite status symbol, bag tags. What a nice bullseye for unscrupulous baggage handlers. Passengers will really notice me while my bags are stored above head or in the cargo compartment.

    • Wait, you guys put these on your 'checked' bags? Off. I think you're doing it wrong.

(sounds like someone hasn't earned status yet... naw, naw, you're right, makes you a target for thieves)

  • Tip: If you don't have any use for yet another Delta baggage tag, you can change the customization from your name to anything you want. Including the name of a child or grandchild . . . then gift the tags to them as a birthday present or a whatever present. Little kids love this stuff.

  • We always did (get free bag tags as elites). Delta just sent them automatically. United recently made you request them (they've always been cheap about it). Delta's used to be plastic (now metal); United's are still plastic (again, they're cheap). Also, American sends them, too. This isn't really new. The only new thing is Delta's metal, customizable ones.

    • Aww, other passengers must get so concerned for you when you stay behind instead of pre-boarding with the other 1Ks. 'Dean is a man of the people... he waits patiently with Group 1... a class hero!'

I still use the silly 1K luggage 'handle wrap' gift but it just says 'United'.
