Our Verdict
How useful this type of offer is will depend on how competitively priced the Kroger fuel centers are in your area and also how much gas you actually purchase. It looks like you also need to redeem at least 100 fuel points per, according to this comment it’s per fill up (I’d recommend reading that comment as it provides a lot of great detail). month to be eligible for the discount, not sure if that means spending $100+ on the card per month? For most people I can’t see this discount/card worth getting.

Too bad Kroger gasoline isn't Top Tier.
From my previous experience with a Kroger REWARDS MasterCard (though terms could have changed)...
You have to redeem 100 Fuel Points per fill-up to get the *additional* discount on *that* fill-up. When it says "earned in a single month," they mean that you can't combine Fuel Points from different months to get to 100 (e.g., if you have 68 from December 2020 and 32 from January 2021, you can't combine them).
You don't need to earn the Fuel Points using the card. You can, for example, earn the Fuel Points using your AmEx Gold (or BCP/whatever) and just use the card when you're buying gas. In order for this to work, you have to link the Kroger PLUS accounts.
This discount does stack with the discount from the Fuel Points you redeem. In my area, the maximum Fuel Points you can redeem at a time is 1,000, so redeeming 1,000 and using this card would give you $1.55 off per gallon.
"Necessity is the mother of invention" and I buy the gas for five drivers in my household (soon to be six). When I did this a couple years back, it was $0.25 cents per gallon, and I bought about 2,500 gallons. Now my usage is about 3,000 gallons per year, and likely going up when I add another driver. At 3,000 * $0.55 = $1,650, which definitely warrants figuring out if somebody in my family can do it.
Does the 55¢ discount stack with fuel point redemption?
Example using this card (55¢) plus 450 points (45¢) to get $1 off gal...
@guest_1130249 Yes, the 55c does stack with your normal fuel point redemption. You must redeem at least 100 fuel points to get the extra 55c discount. BTW, fuel points are redeemed in 100 increments (at least that's how it works at Dillons), so you can't do 450 points as in your example.
So it would normally be $100/month in groceries but they do offer bonus points occasionally. half of last year they were doing 2x points on weekends and right now they're doing 4x points on certain gift cards. So weird to me how different all the offers on the assorted Kroger cards are
For example, Kroger card is doing this as well: https://www.krogermastercard.com/credit/welcome.do?exp=&lang=en&redirect=wwwdefault
but the Ralphs card is $50 statement credit: https://www.ralphsmastercard.com/credit/welcome.do?exp=&lang=en&redirect=noSourceCode2sec
and then Fred Meyer is this + 0% APR. Wat https://www.freddysmastercard.com/credit/welcome.do?exp=&lang=en&redirect=directTraffic1
When I signed up for the Dillons card in 2018, the bonus was pretty sweet and easy: $150 bonus for charging $200 anywhere in the first 30 days. There was a 25c per gallon discount during the first 12 months, but after that it drops to only 5c per gallon.
I don't buy much groceries at Dillons but I fill my prescriptions there. Each refill gets 50 points, a 90-day supply gets 150 points. I stagger my medication refills so each month I get at least 150 points. Then I do a simple customer-feedback survey each week to get 50 points each. They add up.
