The Offer
- Discover has launched a new promotion for Android Pay. You’ll receive a $10 (some readers reporting $5 but up to 10 transactions) cashback bonus on up to 5 in-store purchases when you use your Discover card with Android Pay until September 10th, 2016
The Fine Print
- Limit of 5 transactions/$50
- Valid until September 10th, 2016
Our Verdict
Obviously not as good as their previous Apple Pay promotion by a long shot, but I think they learned their lesson with that one. Offer doubles in value if you still have the double cash back offer on your account. Best part of this offer is there doesn’t seem to be any minimum spend requirement, a lot of vending machines take Android pay. Feel free to share how you’ll get you 5/10 transactions in the comments. You should be eligible if you have any of the following cards and received the e-mail:
- Discover it®
- Discover it® Miles
- Discover it® Chrome
- Discover it® Secured Credit Card
- Discover More
- Discover Open Road
- Discover Miles
- Discover Motiva
- Discover Escape

I used up my offer on my phone..can i tack on my wifes card to get another $50? She was also targeted for the promotion.
Not sure to be honest, anybody have any idea?
A while ago when Google Wallet was Tap and Pay, you were able to add just about any credit or debit card to it, which included Discover. Then Google Wallet split up into two separate product offerings, Android Pay which is now the tap and pay solution and Google Wallet as a stand alone prepaid debit card.
About a year ago, shortly after the split up, you could no longer use your Discover card as a payment method through Android Pay. You couldn't even add your Discover card to any Tap and Pay product like Android & Apple pay.
Now the hustle is on for some card issuers like Discover card who were a little late to the Tap and Pay party. Now they are trying to get customers on board with using their credit card in Tap and Pay.
Adding your Discover Card to Android pay has been available for about 2 months now. This offer is targeted primarily to those who haven't added and used their Discover card to Android pay yet.
Any thoughts on who's getting targeted? For example, if you already have your Discover card added to Android Pay or not?
Did not have android app attached or used android pay before but was, and I accepted their offer of $5.00/up to $50.00. It's early in the promotion so look out for it.
Called in and was unable to get the offer attached to my account. Rep stated I was not targeted at the moment.
definitely targeted. not on my card.
You can also call Discover Card customer service @ the offer. They said I had it on my card even though I didnt get any email @ it!
I have no hope for Discover and their offers. Will think about it. Didnt get the Email but I HATE HATE HATE their tracking system and the amount of follow-up I need to do since crap never posts correctly.
While their tracking system leaves much to be desired I have found everything I have done through the discover deals portal has eventually posted.
Sometimes I even forgot I used the portal and months later I get an email saying I received extra rewards.
Is this for purchases that you used your Discover card or even purchases using other payment methods?
:( I have 3 Discover accounts under myself and my spouse and I haven't gotten the offer on any :(
do u use android phone for discover app?
Offers have only just started being sent out, I'd be patient at this stage.
I just called discover and it is a targeted promotion
How do I know if I have the offer?
You'd receive an e-mail letting you know.
same here
Just gonna use vending machine for $0.85 each, I get soda all the time from that vending machine so I'll gladly take $50 for the trouble :)
