The Offer
- Discover is offering cardholders 20% off Happy gift cards when you use cashback rewards. Eligible cards:
- Happy Holiday Gift Card
- Happy Moments Gift Card
- Happy Rewards Gift Card
- Happy Dining Gift Card
Our Verdict
Seems like not everybody is eligible for all four of the cards list above. Usually we see discounts of 10-15% on these happy cards, with the occasional 20% off deal.

I bought a Happy Holidays GC and it shows it's physical on the Discover website. Finally able to use my Discover points on something since Shell GCs for 50% off back in 2011.. (IIRC)
Can happy gift cards run as credit to purchase other gift cards at Bed Bath & Beyond?
In principle - yes, but as it was said below, YMMV depending on store or cashier.
Amex Offers is offering 15% off Happy gift cards. Yes it is 5% less.... But non Discover card holders can probably take advantage of the discount if they're packing an Amex and it's in their offers.
Check your non-Amex issued Amex cards for this offer. I found it on Wells Fargo Propel.
Looks like happygiftcards.com doesn't have physical gc that can be used at lowe's. Only eGift cards.
How does this discount work? Is it on happycards.com?
It on Discover website, where one redeems rewards for gift cards.
Thanks
Tried buying a Happy gift card online but order was declined. No real reason given, something about my information not being correct. The same information I’ve used hundreds of times over many years with all other retailers. YMMV
Same here, i tried 5 different times, all were declined. So frustrated. Sent msg to CS, got a email reply with a CASE # from BHN offering a toll free number to call, I called (3x times), all claimed they don't handle HappyGC issues and they couldn't see HappyGC transactions. So weird.
Do you mean redeeming discover points for happy gift card failed?
Happy Holiday one is good because you can do Lowe's
@guest_1074399 Any idea if it can be used to purchase gift cards at Lowe's?
Used to be, but not anymore. Recently they changed it to a swap card:
"This is a Happy Swap egift card, so it is redeemed online and swapped for egift cards from any of the brands on the card."
Hmm. Discover still lists the old terms for the metabank version, but yeah, on Happy's site, it's now a "Swap Card" which would not work for buying third-party giftcards at Lowe's.
So who knows which one you'd actually receive from Discover.

Alternative is to use Happy Moments card for buying gift cards at Bed Bath & Beyond.
If they let you. YMMV depending on store or cashier.
What used to be? I don't understand what card you are referring to. What card changed to a Happy Swap egift card? Can you be more specific? Where do you see “This is a Happy Swap egift card, so it is redeemed online and swapped for egift cards from any of the brands on the card.”?
@guest_1074476 I think he's referring to this, but I don't see how it's relevant here: https://happycards.com/blog/how-to-use-a-happy-card-to-make-online-purchases/
Yes. I was able to do it with happy dad gift card a few months back.
@guest_1074444 Thanks!
Happy gift cards run as credit so it does allow you to purchase other gift cards. Just need to make sure that the cashier doesn't notice or care.
Thanks for the heads up. None of the Happy cards are ones I'd get but saw a bunch of other cards that have 20% added value as well.
They had 20% off Panera, Red Robin, and a bunch of others a few days ago.
I grabbed a couple of those to offset their crazy, overpriced food :)
Which ones?
Best ones, at least it terms of resale, are BB&B, Nike, and Staples. I always redeem my Discover points for gift cards and then resell them, making a few extra bucks.
@guest_1074416 @guest_1074409 There are about 30 of them. Log in and on the left side of the gift card redemption page click on "Sort by: % Added Value."
What are the other cards you see with 20% added value?
Grabbed Panera myself but there are several choices. Chilis, LL Bean, etc. all have increased value added.
