Dosh Adds Lifetime Cap To Some Merchants

Card linked program Dosh has been popular, especially for offers such as Sam’s Club (4-5% back). Previously when these offers were active you were limited to earning $10-$15 per day, but jnjustice & IChurnToBurn note the following new language (emphasis ours):

In-store cash back offer valid at participating locations only. $15 max lifetime cashback per Dosh user.

It seems like this will actually be enforced as people who have earned more than $15 aren’t even being shown the Sam’s Club offer any longer.

  • What I've started doing is hard turning off my phone at certain Dosh eligible merchants, well before I go there. I suspect they track people via GPS, and if someone already shops at a place, there is no need to show them offers. My guess is that is the whole value proposition that Dosh offers to merchants - they will bring them NEW customers. Not just give discounts to their savviest existing customers.

I'm guessing eventually they will also have to create some kind of opt in structure like ebates in Store or EasyRewards so it is not so easy to earn a couple bucks passively. Stores are eventually going to want to see that this drives incremental sales, not cannibalizes current ones. And that would be one way to prove that to merchants.

  • Dosh is going to shutdown soon. It was a good company first when they started with huge promotions that's no other cashback companies can beat. If you look to their offers now you'll see that they've crappy offers and most of our cc's gives you more of what Dosh does! I'm cashing out and delete this crap app. R(?)IP DOSH!

  • What else besides Sam's club has the lifetime cap? I hit this hard with $20 dosh and $20 uber per $400 in MCGC hard last fall, not surprised it is dead.

  • I have definitely got more than $15 cashback from Dosh for Sam's Club. The 5% Sam's offer is not showing anymore in my App.
