Drugstore.com and Beauty.com Getting Shuttered, Rewards Program Ends

Walgreen’s will soon close down drugstore.com and beauty.com, along with the associated rewards program.

Five years ago, Walgreen’s bought out drugstore.com for $429 million, together with sister-sites beauty.com, skinstore.com, and visiondirect.com. Skinstore was sold earlier this year, and drugstore and beauty will soon close. Visiondirect will remain open.

Experts say that Walgreens intends to strengthen their own online presence, and closing these sites will help them focus on the core brand.

Both sites will shutter at the end of September. Drugstore Dollars will no longer be earned after August 13, and all Dollars will have to be redeemed before the end of September when the sites are closed for good.

This change applies to all sites which earn Drugstore.com Dollars, even Visiondirect which is remaining open; the rewards program is being discontinued.

Drugstore.com was a favored by some for stacking discounts. They’ve often had high portal payouts, various coupon codes, Drugstore Dollars and more stacking opportunities.
