eBay To Make Changes To eBay Bucks Program Starting April 1, 2021 (Base Rate Removed)

(Update 3/1/21: they sent out another blast about this now, you may have gotten)

eBay has sent out an e-mail to some users on the eBay council informing them that changes will be made to the eBay Bucks program starting April 1st, 2021. The major change is that users will stop earning 1% back in Bucks on all purchases. Limited time offers to earn Bucks will still be offered. Starting April 1st you’ll have 12 months to redeem any Bucks earned after that date.

  • The paypal fee not being refunded on refunds is a HUGE deal as a seller. I’ve had so many scammers buy things, pretty much every lego I sell. Last case, someone 2,000 miles away bought something that I listed as “pickup only”, paypal still took their fee regardless. I was left holding bag for no reason. They did this around beginning of the year. I sell a lot less now.

      • Not true, they had one 2 months ago where you got to sell 10 items for free. However, it was targeted to certain accounts.

  • Yes, I got the email too. So they just effectively took away the 1% for no good reason. LOL

  • It's official . my email today : After careful consideration, we’ve decided to retire the 1% earnings reward on everyday purchases starting April 1st, 2021. @will

  • Is Ebay's plan to offer better limited-time Ebay Bucks deals while scrapping the base 1% rate, a base rate which likely doesn't get folks anymore excited to make purchases on the site than they otherwise would be? Because that would actually make sense.

Of course, because it's Ebay, I doubt this is the plan.

  • Am I the only one who uses eBay for only one purpose...buying dirt cheap Chinese crap that fits in small packaging? Things like Tempered Glass, phone cases and random things you need that are generally a few bucks at eBay but $15 everywhere else.

On the selling side, it’s laughable how many scammers there are. Sell an iPhone worth more than $300 and you’ll be amazed.

    • It's actually pretty great for trying out new underwear. Don't hafta commit to a 3-pack or make a trip to a department store! 😂 🤷🏻‍♂️

  • These chiselers. The stupid EBAY bucks expire almost immediately, fees to sell are basically theft, no reason to use this platform anymore.
