The Fine Print

  • The promotional code MK-$300Checking must be mentioned at time of account opening or entered as a promo code in the online application when applying online.
  • Checking offer is not available to existing CCU Florida checking account holders or those who have closed an account within the past 12 months.
  • Savings offer is not available to existing CCU Florida savings account holders and requires a new checking account be established to receive the savings bonus.
  • To receive the checking bonus, you must: 1) Open a new CCU Florida checking account, which is subject to approval; 2) Establish a monthly direct deposit of $2,500 or more into your account within 60 days of account opening and continue the monthly direct deposit of $2,500 or more into your account for 90 days. Direct deposit needs to be an electronic deposit of a paycheck, pension, or government benefits (such as Social Security) from your employer or the government. Transferring money from an outside account or using a person-to-person transfer through a service such as Zelle® are not considered a direct deposit; Incentive payout will be posted by the 5th of the month, following the 90 days after meeting the above requirements.
  • All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them

Avoiding Fees

Monthly Fees

Free checking plus has no monthly fees to worry about.

Early Account Termination Fee

I wasn’t able to find the fee schedule to check for an EATF.

Our Verdict

Better than the previous $100/$125 bonus. It’s a shame it’s a hard pull but that is less of an issue for most people these days so we will add it to the best bank account bonus page.

  • Opened 6/10.
1505 deposit from Fidelity brokerage account July, Aug, Sept, Oct, Nov.
Still no bonus as of Jan 3. Confirmed with a phone rep back in June the promo code was applied and the terms were 1,500 per month.

No idea when payout is supposed to be. Wording makes no sense. Hopefully payout comes through, otherwise I wasted a credit pull.

  • did the savings bonus amount change? It says 15k here though now it says 25k on their website

  • Did anyone else get a decline saying they weren't able to verify your identity?

  • Applied online from south Florida. Declined and told to come in to branch to verify the work/worship eligibility. Second time declined for this asking for proof.

    • Hard pull and decline is no fun. That and lack of DPs has kept me from going forward with the application.

    • "Incentive payout will be posted by the 5th of the month, following the 90 days after meeting the above requirements."

So if you met the reqs at the end of Aug, you have to wait 90 days for the payout meaning the bonus would be posted between dec 1st-5th. That's how it seems to be to me atleast

      • Yeah it's worded pretty wonky. I was thinking it could be like you're saying or just the 5th of the month after the 90 days, so September 5th in your example. IRDK
