  • I have existing bookings with frontier in June, would gettin gold status allow me to carry a carryon?

      • @guest_2045579 how did it code on your credit card (if you don't mind sharing), sure would be nice if it triggered an airline auxiliary credit I have with PenFed. thanks in advance.

        • It categorized as a business service. The status match program is managed by a third party company in Singapore

          • Business Services - Internet Services
            LOYALTY DATA CO PTE LTD
On my statement as FRONTIER GOLD SINGAPORE SG

Which makes me wonder if this is the parent company of statusmatch * COM

I have been getting a slew of marketing emails from them about the Frontier match

I used an Amex card to see if a partial airline rebate would kick in, but I don't think that it will. Maybe. It only posted to the account yesterday. Will post back if they comp me for the purchase.

      • I have 2 other family member on the same account, I.e I booked their flights from my account. Would getting gold status provide carry-on for all reservations or just me the primary reservation?

    • Terms say you can add it to existing booking as long as they DON'T already have ancillary products purchased on them

  • Pairs perfectly with my 1 year pass I got for $269 (after 10% back Chase offer) that's about to become active on May 1st.

  • Frontier is about the only airline that regularly flies direct TPA-CLE. For a carry-on and seat selection to be included with gold status means that gold status is worth it for even ONE flight. I just booked TPA-CLE on Southwest for Memorial Day weekend. Both directions we have to change planes in Baltimore. I paid 18500 points each which would be the equivalent of $277.36 in cash. If I do this deal I can choose my seats, have a carry on, have a DIRECT flight and save at least two hours of travel time each way (this is a big deal when you're traveling solo with a five year old), and it will cost me $228.96 per person, including the $40 application fee, so I'm saving $50 each. Chances are good that this will not be the last time I fly the TPA-CLE route this year, too. I'm willing to give it a shot.

    • This is exactly right. Frontier might not be for everyone. But similarly to you, Frontier is the only PHX-CLE option. And for those same reasons, becomes a non brainer with this.

  • People on here love to dump on Frontier. But the whole point of blogs like this is to give information for how to travel for cheaper. No easier hack than this. I have friends in San Fran and am constantly flying Frontier up there for under $100 round trip. This saves me hundreds, good seat, now a bag. No brainer.

  • It also states you need to have been a Rapid Rewards member before Apr 16, however its not enforced. My partner created both rewards accounts and successfully matched within 5min.

  • I only fly Southwest which I like to nickname "Airbus"

For Frontier I might use "Airwagon" or "Airhound"

Seriously though, this is a good deal for those that will be flying Frontier multiple times.
I assume it's not too appealing for those loyal to Southwest, but since it's open to anyone with SW loyalty number, they will definitely get some people that take them up on it. - Mostly people already planning to fly Frontier and recognize that $40 for unlimited bags through 2025 is a great deal for them.

  • Nice try Frontier, not going to fool me.

I mean, pretty much on equal footing as Spirit.

    • I fly Frontier a decent amount and find it to be very acceptable. Obviously if you're paying $40 for a flight you're going to get $40 a flight people. But Frontier has taken me to a lot of places for not a lot of money. Thankful to them.

    • The play isn't so much for Frontier, but to then status match Frontier to other airlines. You can match Frontier to Alaska and then take that match to Delta, United, American, etc. Granted they'll only be for a few months, but perfect for summer travel season.
