The Offer

Check your AmEx Offers for the following deal:

  • Get a $5 statement credit by using your enrolled eligible Card to make a single purchase of $5 or more on a CVS ExtraCare Plus Membership online at cvs.com/extracare/amex by 8/31/2024. Limit of 2 statement credits (total of $10).

The Fine Print

  • Offer valid only on CVS ExtraCare Plus Memberships purchased online only at US website cvs.com/extracare/amex.
  • Excludes all other purchases.
  • Please note if you purchase a membership, unless you notify the merchant that you want to pause, cancel, or that you do not want to auto renew, your membership will automatically renew for another membership period (subject to applicable law) of equal length (for example monthly, or annually). This means that the merchant will collect the then-applicable membership fee and any taxes by charging a credit card the merchant has on record for you without notifying you, unless notification is required by applicable law.

    • People without cars may not have a choice. P3 is a college student and does all of her non-grocery shopping at Walgreens and CVS. Drives me crazy, but I can't really say anything because she would have to take a 45-minute bus ride each way to go to a normal store like Target or Walmart. @guest_1930980

  • I'm thinking about signing up in store, so i can get Oct for free. Then Nov and Dec will be offset with Amx credit. Will the signup in store trigger the Amex credit? Can you anyone confirm? Thanks.

  • I tried this previously and ended the membership after two months. The issue was that CVS ceased sending me the 40% off and $4 discount coupons for like months. I hardly shop at CVS, even with the 40% off coupons, but occasionally they are useful. If you rely on the 40% and $4 off coupons, you might want to reconsider. However, YMMV!

    • I see what you are saying but i dont think there is a corelation between these. CVS starts and stops sending good coupons randomly. There was a phase where they will send me $4 (and sometimes $3 and even $5) off every week for weeks at a time, sometimes 2 in a week. And hen it stops and you get nothing or measly 10 or 20% off.

  • Can someone please post what the charge looks like on their amex statement?

    thanks

  • Has anyone tried just buying something exactly $5 in store?
I am willing to try but the problem is trying to find something that doesnt end in .99

Also this one says "online", thas last similar offer which I didnt get but saw it here was for both store and online. Wondering if this will work in store as well? Asking because store gives its own first free month. So if I do it today for both my and my wives account, I will be charged $5 on 8/8 which is still within the promotion period, right?

    • how many wives do you have? BTW you can get Kit Kat bars for 1.79 and small bag of pistachios hanging on the end of aisles with other bags of nuts are also 1.79-199.

      • Found the small cashew and other nuts bags. The store kept them hidden in a weird corner that is very difficult to see :)

    • Why would you want to buy anything but the membership ?
Per terms its a statement credit for membership purchase.
And you get to spend 10.00 extra care bucks for doing so

      • @guest_1858554 Thanks. I was thinking more of people who already have it.

I was also thinking of the possibility of signing up in store and getting the first month free (they still charge the card $0 to get it on file) and then letting them charge second month's membership. Not sure if he second month's charge will trigger Amex credit or not. Do you think that might work?

        • You wouldn't have enough time as this offer ends in Aug. Could have gotten the first month free and the second month credited but Amex offers 2 credits so you are only basically saving sales tax on the first month doing this.

  • Why does CVS calculate their discounts differently than all other stores? 40% product that cost $15 plus $10 extra care should end you paying zero dollars, but they take out the 40% AFTER $10 extra care is taken out. This is the only store and store program I know that does this.

    • yea, it makes no sense. the $10 extra care should be treated like a gift card. I hate the way they put that first
