Update2: This bonus is back, we’ve updated the current login link and also the offer code (CBUX:0003).
Last week, we covered the targeted 10,000 Membership Rewards points bonus that many people got in their inbox from Amex for simply enrolling in the pay-over-time option.
This deal is probably one of the easiest wins you can get, and there are a few things to keep in mind with regards to getting yourself targeted.
Email, Amex Offers
To start with the obvious, check your emails and the Amex Offers section in your Amex login to see if the offer shows up on any of your charge cards. This offer will only show on charge cards, personal or business, but never on credit cards.
Use the Signup Link
A report on Reddit seems to indicate that some are having success signing up using this signup link, even though they weren’t targeted.
Call Amex
There’s a very interesting report from Takeoffwithmiles and others who were able to signup for the Extended Payment option over the phone even though they weren’t targeted via email. Call 1-866-280-4438 and use promo code: CBUX:0003 for this offer. Amex should be able to tell you if you are eligible.
I tried on my two charge cards, but one was already enrolled, apparently, and the other was a new card. I was told that only cards that already had three billing cycles are eligible to enroll in Extended Payments. Amex encouraged me to call back in a few months after three billing cycles had generated.
Double Dip
When you click through the offer link from email or Amex Offers, the system will often take you to an offer page showing multiple cards which are eligible for the 10k offer. The system might let you sign up for each card, one at a time. If it does, you should get the 10k bonus on each card.
In the past, people were able to signup multiple cards using one link, but some readers are saying the system is only allowing one signup per link this time. Try calling in to see if you can get it on the other cards, using the offer code mentioned above. Targeted folks might have better luck calling in and getting the offer added on non-targeted cards (this is speculation on my part).

I called AmEx for a completely different issue and they told me about the "Extended Pay" offer. I told them that I read about the 10K points offer online and that I would be willing to sign up if they gave me 10K points. The agent spoke to his supervisor and instantly gave me 10K points. I think it doesn't hurt to ask.
Always a good rule of thumb
Finally became eligible for Extended Pay but now see this message:
We're sorry, either your Membership Rewards® points offer has expired or this offer is only available to Card Members who have received a communication directly from American Express for this offer. You can see if you are eligible to enroll in the Extended Payment Option by clicking "I Agree, Enroll".
My wife recently got physical mail with this offer on her Mercedes Personal Platinum, with a deadline to enroll by October 28. I don't know if I received the same mail (I often just throw away things that look like balance-transfer-check offers etc). Is there a more current link I can try to see if I'm eligible?
Never mind - just found it in my massive stack of unopened mail. Carry on...
Got targeted for this on a personal platinum today. Applied last year during May platinum leaked 100k offer.
I just got this offer in my email today for amex platinum (got via incognito 75k offer)
Thanks
Data Point: I booked a round trip flight on Alaska and the day my bill closed I got targeted via email with this language:
Because you recently used your Platinum Standard Card to book an upcoming trip, we thought you’d appreciate having payment choices for this purchase and others. As a valued Card Member, you are invited to enroll in the Extended Payment Option1, which gives you the flexibility to carry a balance with interest or pay in full each month.
And, if you are approved, you could get 10,000 Membership Rewards® points.2
I have been receiving letters, and email to sign up for this (for my Business Platinum, I got the 10k bonus offer for my PRG awhile back). But with no bonus. So I did an online chat with AMEX.
"I have been receiving letters about extended payment option. I received the same offer before with my other charge card, but with a 10,000 MR bonus. I was wondering if I qualify for a 10000 MR bonus for my Business Platinum. If so, I would be more than happy to sign up. Thank you."
They replied,"I would like to inform you that such offers are solicated offers, and they come and go. Pay over time is solicited offer and you may get an offer in the future with the bonus offer."
I see. I guess I'll wait for that offer to come, thank you.
I got a letter for my Plat (from 100k offer) saying I qualified for Select & Pay Later as of 11/11/2016. I need to call if I wish the feature to be cancelled. No mention of any bonus. Bonus signup link above gives me message "We're sorry, either your Membership Rewards® points offer has expired or this offer is only available to Card Members who have received a communication directly from American Express for this offer."
I got this same letter also for Plat from 100k offer. The flyer/brochure accompanying the letter seems to indicate that I am already enrolled in "the Select and Pay Later feature" and the letter states that if I do not want to be enrolled I have to call and request that the feature be cancelled. ... but then it also says you have qualified for enrollment as of 11/05/2016. ? I saw on flyertalk that --If you decline the offer without bonus your account will NEVER receive any offer on this feature per the disclosure from the chat rep.
I have plat and gold card for around a year, and called to enroll two card in July, and they did enrolled me both, but now I only get one 10K for gold, and never get it for plat. Can we get two 10k if we have two charge card?
You'd have to call in and ask I think if I'm understanding your question correctly.
Have had 3 statements cut on my Amex Gold Biz but keep getting the following statement:
"Extended Payment Option
We're sorry, none of your enrolled Cards is eligible for the Extended Payment Option."
Not sure what to do at this point.
