  • Just an FYI - I always fill up my tank at GetGo using the perks and then I fill up some gas cans. Today, for the first time, I was unable to pump any gas once I removed the nozzle from my car. So, for me, I can only get 15 gallons now instead of the 29-30 I was getting before.

    • Ignore what I just said. GetGo installed pumps with a safety feature. I just had to learn how to use it.

  • Tried to add to card and its says I'm not eligible - I have this advantage card for 2+ years so not sure what the issue is. my local ad says its good 11/3-11/6

  • This is back, this time for $35 off $300+ Lowe's GC in-store only. Note it is a clippable coupon on your Advantage card. @will @chucksithe

  • FWIW, I made 2 purchases with Discover online in February 2021 and it did not code as Grocery. I had never had this issue before with AMEX BCP, Chase, or Discover. I have made many online purchases over the years. Not sure if it is a change or a fluke. This was the coding:

    Transaction Details
Merchant Category BUSINESS SRVCS (NOT CLASSIFIED)

    • I think they changed from in-house gift card processing to BHN sometime last year.

  • If you can maximize 30 gallons for fuel perks you are better off buying the Happy Gift cards that earn 3x fuel perks this week that include Lowe's.
    $250 earns $0.50/gallon x 30 gallons x 3 = $45 savings

    Or save $25 and earn $13.50 of gas ($0.45/gallon x 30 gallons) = $38.50 savings.

And there is no limit on the Happy Gift Cards.

    • There is no limit on the amount of Happy Gift cards you can buy.
Also the calculation above for the $0.45 assumes you can spend another $25 to earn the next $0.10 fuel perks

    • Never had this issue in the City of Pittsburgh or North Hills. Even once bought $8000 giftcards at once on my Amex Gold - had to go to the customer service counter rather than regular check out line.

        • So he can put his name into the book of high rollers. Make sure to take a picture of all the names the next time you sign the book. Then post all the names here to see if any of them are DoCers.

          • @guest_1184544 lmfao I'm dead 🤣. Giant Eagle only reports level 2 to card issuers but I bet if you charge that much in one go Amex knows something's gotta be up hence why I dribble it.

    • I've been playing the Visa Gift Card game at Giant Eagle for a long time now- haven't paid for gas in many years. Never had a problem buying $1400 worth at once. In the Cleveland area.

      • Same I haven't paid for gas in forever. And the gas covers most of the fee too it's nice.

        • Gas covers way more than the fee.... on a $200 VGC you get 40 cents off per gallon, which on the max 30 gallons is worth $12. Plus the CC points... it's sweet.

          • Yup, but I have so many points I have to start using them on food at GetGo 🤣. Don't even do groceries at giant eagle since its so expensive compared to aldi.

          • Oh, I never buy any actual groceries at Giant Eagle, too expensive. But we use a lot of gas, my wife commutes 45 min on the highway to work so I always can use the perks on gas, which is what makes this nice. I feel bad for the poster above who can't buy above $140, yuck.

        • Haven't paid for gas since 2014...wild times. They stopped taking VGC for MOs at GE now though...Walmart seems like too big of a hassle for large quanities, but I really don't want to pay for gas again.

          • Yup, I think 2014 for me too- I think that was the year they started selling $200 VGC. Yeah, they only take cash for MO at Giant Eagle as of last month, definitely a bummer- was definitely nice to be able to do it all in one stop, I would even deposit the MO into my Huntington account at the branch right inside Giant Eagle (until Huntington shut me down :) ). But I still have 2 Serve cards going strong and those work seamlessly at Family Dollar, the 200s even autodrain there so I can load 500 at once super-easy. So I plan to keep chugging along at Giant Eagle for the free gas for now.

    • No issue here either. What region are you in and is the hard coded? If not, just use self checkout.

    • I always use a credit card to buy visa gift cards when they have the $10 off a $200 GC deal. Never had an issue.
