Our Verdict
Nice deal, fingers crossed it’s available on more brands than what is listed but even if not it should still be useful for most people with brands such as Best Buy being included. Remember to use your Chase Freedom card for 5x on up to $1,500 at the grocery this quarter, or use a card that earns bonus rewards at the grocery.

Will Amex see that I bought a GC? I’d like to restrict my spending for the Amex Gold to restaurants and grocery stores, even in the SUB period, so every little bit helps.
the last time this promo ran, I found a loophole to get around the minimum on select branded gift cards. I bought a small denomination gift card ($10 Google Play) which was among the included brands during the last promo, and another gift card not included in the promo($100 Hotels.com gc in my case) to meet the rest of the $85. Total was $110, only $10 of which was one of the brands included in the promo. The $20 free groceries coupon still triggered as long as I used my Stop and Shop card.

Hotels.com gift cards can be purchased at 15% discount fairly regularly. Last time it worked for Amazon, which was awesome. If it works now, that would be great.

No it doesnt. Bought variable load Amazon for $100 it didn’t trigger the promo. Didn’t try partial with included gift cards..

Nice indeed — as far as it goes. (and that’s unclear) Given the chaos we’ve experienced with these Giant/M/S&S non fuel points gc deals before, am curious to learn what “one per transaction” means. Will their system permit the same deal to apply over multiple transactions? (perhaps, but no limits?) If more than one, will their systems permit more than one $15 credit to apply per future grocery purchase? (unlikely) I’m also bit dubious that this will apply to any but the 12 gift cards depicted in the ads. (Wayfair appears also to be in the low res ladysavings scan of the advance ad; can’t make out the 12th)
One other uncertainty: On other promos, I’ve been noticing that my distinctly separate accounts at Martin’s & Giant have somehow been linked. (Load a coupon at one, and it shows up as “loaded” to the other; same thing on redemption. Nasty. Will it work in reverse with these $15 credits? Unlikely)
