Our Verdict
Some good deals, especially if you usually do your grocery shopping at these stores. As always make sure to use a card that earns at a high rate on grocery store purchases.

Just bought $150 in Lowes cards and got nothing???????
Deal has expired now
Giant in PA had rolling expiration dates. Lowes is expired but there are still a bunch that run through 11/16 (e.g. Macys, GameStop, Staples, JCPenney, and a few more).
It says that it expires 11/16! Today is 11/13
It had not expired yet,,,
Can we purchase gift cards at self-checkout counters?
No. Has to be regular lane or CS.
I made the mistake of loading a couple of gift card promotions that were tied to money off the grocery bill at Giant (they were store cards like Macy's and Kohls) a few months ago. Only one discount off the grocery bill was applied to the order. Hope I'm wrong, but separate transactions are likely needed.
The terms state offer can't be combined with "like offers" so we're probably gonna see the same this time around
This is discount on your groceries, not the gc themselves.
I'm surprised it is not a coupon for future grocery order. So is it even feasible to do 2 on the same order, for example Macy's and gamestop with $20 or more in groceries getting you 20 off groceries?
Don't be surprised. When they gave the coupons for future orders (last fall and this past spring) they were gamed big time.
This is Ahold's way of ensuring its really only one per customer.
Not quite. There's nothing to prevent gamers from having multiple loyalty cards.
Supposedly yes. But in practice I don't know
So, my understanding of the deal is that you can't buy $30 in groceries and buy all the gift cards and get $10/$20/$25 off all the various gift cards.
My understanding of how the deal works is that if you bought let's say the lowes, best buy, jcp and gamestop, and bought $100 in groceries you'd get to save $65 off your groceries...
If you could buy just $30 in groceries and just get the $$ taken off the gift cards that'd be really nice!
Very good catch Joe (and my presumption/wishful thinking that this would give credits for future purchases is quite in error). From the fine print (via Martin's & Giant):
Offer redeemed when you present your Card at checkout and will be applied to your grocery order before taxes and after all other coupons and savings are applied. Grocery order calculation excludes gift cards, alcohol, tobacco and any other purchase prohibited by law. Offer can only be redeemed once. While gift card supplies last. All rights reserved. Offer cannot be doubled, tripled or combined with any like offers. No rainchecks. Offer not valid at Peapod.com. Gift cards are subject to their own terms, conditions and fees. All trademarks are property of their respective owners. All sales of gift cards are final, no refunds on gift cards.
As such, value of this deal now not nearly so compelling.
(ps, As I've been noticing much overlap between deals/coupons appearing at Kroger compared to S&S/Martin's/Giant, I'll be watching to see if we see the seasonally "usual" 20% promotions on GC's soon appearing at Kroger -- and hopefully there it will be as "discounts" on the cards -- rather than cashback on groceries, same transaction. Will be watching.)
Also, i will wait till tomorrow to see what the next week ad (11/3-11/9) brings up for GC gas points bonus. If any fo these has 10X, then its a super slick.
It's 2X on Amex gift cards, I'm told.
Starting 11/3, they will have 2x on AmEx GCs, so no overlap.
Confirming the same deals, via coupon downloads, at both Martin's and Giant.
A few additional notes:
1. When you say use only once, presume you mean once per gift card.
2. Add Lowe's - spend $150 or more and get $25 in groceries.
3. Appears to be a grocery spending threshold just to get the % coupons back for groceries:
(on the $50 cards, you have to spend $10 on groceries, for the $100 cards, requires $20 spend; for the $150 or more Lowe's deal (get back $25), you have to first spend $25 in groceries)
4. I presume we won't be able to use the coupons for buying groceries to buy giftcards.
5. Does anybody know the rate at which non-promotional gift cards earn fuel points a M's, Giant, or S&S? (I ask as I'm guessing 1 point per dollar. Yet Kroger, by contrast, has a standard rate of 2 pts per dollar spent on gc's)
non promo gift cards don't earn points at Giant
Judging from your questions, you're misunderstanding how this deal works. Let's say you want to do the Best Buy deal. You login to your supermarket account and load the coupon onto your card. You buy a $100 Best Buy gift card AND $20 or more worth of groceries in the same purchase using the loyalty card. The coupon you've loaded onto your card deducts $20 from the cost of the groceries. If you buy less than $20 worth of groceries, the coupon won't be applied.
As for question 5, I think non-promotional gift cards don't earn any fuel points.
Yes. I think your corrective interpretation Gerald is correct. (as I also noted in my response to Joe below) Will watch for confirming reports from others as to what they experience in practice.
Another question: regarding the grocery spending threshhold to be eligible for the deals, I presume that once you pass $25 on one order, then you can get the promos for multiple cards on one transaction....? But is that correct?
I assume so. In my case, i didnt even purchase grocery. I was asking how to deal works to the Manager and he just took $ off the GC purchase alone.
So my coupons were not used really.
I am going to try tomorrow on real Grocery purchase and will see how it works.
i wish my stop n shop had your manager...then i could just buy gift cards at steep discounts.
I misswed Lowes in screenshot. That is also available. Its $25 off $25 for $150 GC purchase.
Thanks, added
