Update 7/19/21: Some people are seeing up to $50 back currently. Hat tip to Proton

The Offer

  • Google Pay is offering 20% back at Walgreens (up to $25 back)

Our Verdict

Walgreens does sell gift cards, so offer should be triggered by those purchases.

  • Bought $125 of assorted gift cards in-store last week and can confirm this tracked within 24 hours. Currently showing as available in 30 days due to refund window.

  • I ordered $100+$25 in AGC from the website on 7/25 for pickup and it tracked immediately. The $25 AGC ended up going out of stock so I decided to not pickup the order and it was canceled and refunded to me a few days later. I expected the gpay offer to get clawed back but today the reward fully posted and I transferred it out.

  • Got the missing $25 credit after a chat. Had to send them both a screenshot of the offer and a photo of my Walgreens receipt. I am still triggered by Google, that was not an easy process.

  • got the credit but having hard time transferring money out to the bankā€¦ has anyone been able to do this? I asked support and they told me I had to setup a link with plaid which I believe monitors your bank account activity which i want to avoid.

    • Use a bank account you don't care about.

Btw the Google Play rewards gives Google access to your card activity in a similar way.

  • Got $125 Amazon gift card. Google Pay offer got triggered within an hour or so (pending for 30 days).

Peeled off the gift card claim code sticker and the paper stuck to the sticker, ripping off part of the claim code. Fortunately, it was relatively easy (other than the hassle of having to deal with this at all) to get the value added to my Amazon account via customer service chat.

  • $50 offer only $25 pending for both accts. Contacted CS both required screenshots and said would escalate a few days ago. Today got customer credit, one for $25 and one for $50 (guess CS agent had bad math.)

  • Opened GPay app, removed all cards except PayPal Key from enrollment
Took.screenshots of Walgreen offer im GPay app
Ordered $100 amazon card for a pickup.
Got instant PayPal notification, Discover notification, GPay notification.
Went for pickup after an hour and made sure they activated.
    Got pickup confirm email
    25% in total.

    Now I wait 30days.

Plan to use this to buy other gift card using discover 40% off.

    • wow, didn't think about the Paypal key to get 5% from Discover. Can I keep all other cards on the account or I have to have only Paypal Key? Thanks.

  • They manually credit my account for the remaining $25 after I reached out and sent all the screenshots. Good luck to all.

  • Does this work for shipping? The terms were a little unclear. I want to get some auto-reorder discounts stacked on.

  • I chatted with Google Pay today, they were claiming I activated the $25 deal, and that there was no $50 cashback deal. Blatant bait and switch. They kept asking for proof, but I never had an issue before with Google Pay, so why would I ever think of taking a screenshot as proof. I work in software development, and I know databases have records of any changes to the database for these offers. Unfortunately the person chatting in Asia has zero access to anything, so my issue has to be forwarded off by email, where I'm sure it'll be tossed into oblivion. What a shitshow, guess I'll be screenshotting every Google deal from here on out.

    • I had the same issue and agree it was very frustrating for them to keep saying well, YOU prove to ME what you should have gotten. I agree with you why would I think I need to take a screenshot? I'm surprised I didn't, but it shouldn't be the responsibility of the consumer.

However, after multiple back and forths and perhaps even me calling their actions dishonest, they threw $25 in my account today to make it right. I still have P2 to deal with $25 sitting on one that said $50 max. Might just be happy with my $75 off $500 and be much more diligent tracking with screenshots (and receipts - they asked for store receipts!) in the future.

      • @guest_1225363 any chance you could throw those screenshots onto Imgur or similar and share the link?

Be aware they asked to see the offer along with the enrolled card under the offer. I did not provide that screenshot as there is partial card information in that screenshot and I doubt it will help anyone since they most likely will run that information with the cards you have used for the offer. I did provide screenshots showing activated offers and in that it does show $50 back. Let me know if the link is not working.
