The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • HBO Max is offering 40% off yearly plans
    • With ads $69.99/year
    • Ad free $104.99/year

Our Verdict

Can stack with the amex offer on the ad free offer to take another $25 off. You can also go through a shopping portal for up to $22 back with Swagbucks/MyPoints or $16/1,600 with Rakuten or Capital One.

  • Did anyone have trouble with CB? Sams club has cash linked offers for Hbo and some reported clawback emails. Nothing in the terms justifies it. Clawback has to be coming from Hbo too

  • Stacked Swagbucks with $50 AMEX Plat credit (over $99 purchase). Got Ad-free. Already received email for AMEX credit, awaiting Swagbucks 2,100 pts.

  • Have had HBO Max in the past, but not currently. Unsure with the wording on the different cash back portals if I've got a better shot at one over another to get cash back - anyone "renewed" their subscription and still gotten cash back (other than AmEx)?

  • Had no problems with stacking for the one year ad free offer. Got the email from Amex. Got pending Mypoints after 4 hours.

  • Ahh, bad timing. I just renewed my annual subscription last week, and there doesn't seem to be any way to extend it using this deal. Bummer.

  • This is a great deal. HBO Max is the only thing worth watching out there - best content. Cancelled my Netflix and Disney+ subscription.

    • They completely bungled their launch a few years ago but quietly turned into one of the best content services. Unfortunately, their new CEO is in the process of revamping and gutting it. Can't wait for the menus full of a lot of crappy reality tv! Still should be able to get some good value out of their existing content and HBO originals for a year though.

  • To qualify for the Amex offer, you should spend $99. If HBO applies its 40% offer directly at checkout, the payment would be ~$70 and it disqualifies from Amex. Here was my two cents.

Anyway, I have HBO Max till December. I assume several offers would come around black Friday and Christmas.

      • I agree with this it keeps saying cannot add card if you use on amex card on ad free offer, which is $104.

        • sorry misread it, I cannot get it to work for the ad free version and the ad version would not qualify. Have tried new and existing account, incognito and different amex cards, none work.

          • It is almost reasonable. Use add free to be able to include Amex $25. Stack with $22 from SB. The final price will be $58. Since I already have HBOMax till end of the year, I wait to see whether I can get better offer (last year, it was the same offer while stacking HBO offer and SB).
