  • Buy $100 or more in Visa gift cards at Hy-Vee and get a free $10 Hy-Vee gift card

The Fine Print

  • Limit 1
  • Valid 10/25/17 – 10/31/17

Our Verdict

Should work on $500 gift cards as well, which results in a $4 moneymaker + $506 in grocery credit card rewards. You’ll also get fuel points on the purchase.

Looks like this time you’ll only get one $10 Hy-Vee gift card for a $500 card; last time around there was insanity going on when they gave out $50 in gift cards per $500 Visa card. Might still be possible to buy multiple Visa cards in separate transactions and get a $10 Hy-Vee gift card for each one. It’ll depend on the store and cashier whether they’ll allow this and whether they’ll allow credit card at all to pay for Visa gift cards.

  • HyVees are definitely hit or miss. The one I have that does allow cc purchases didn't have this promo in their system. I had to show the ad to get my $10 gift card.

  • There are three HyVees here in my small city. Two do not allow purchasing a Visa Gift Card using a Credit Card. The third one does allow you do this, but you can only put 350.00 dollars (or less) on each Visa Gift Card (the variable ones). This was the case some time ago, and I did not purchase one Visa Gift Card there for a fairly long time. I think that I might try to but one to try it tomorrow.

  • Picked up a $500 Visa gift card today at my local HyVee. Only got one $10 HyVee card. Ad says limit 1 but you could probably go back multiple times during the day or hit multiple stores.

I had no problem paying with a credit card but some HyVees don't allow credit - only cash or debit.

Ditto what bexho said - no fuel points earned on VGC purchases.

  • No - Visa/MC/Amex gift card purchases do not earn fuel points at Hy-Vee...only 3rd party gift cards do. Plus a lot of Hy-Vees in the Midwest have gone cash only the last couple of weeks per strict orders from upper management....

  • This doesn't make sense:

    "506 grocery credit card points."

If paying with a high earning grocery credit card you will get more than 506 points.
