Can you redeem AA miles on iberia?
Pretty good deal but be aware that Iberia customer service sucks over the phone. Book online if you can.
Wouldn't it be better to transfer to BA Avios 1:1 with Chase, then to Iberia? (I guess only if your Iberia account is more than 90 days old and you have/can put some Avios directly in it first.)
I just gave up after 2 years of not being able to activate the damn thing by buying 2000 avios, the least they offer for $58. In long run it's a good one time investment. I was able to transfer immediately afterwards.
well, glory be.... Much obliged for your post joE. I actually did try this once last week, and it wouldn't work. But..... for reasons beyond me, just now, I tried again.... went directly to my Iberia account, checked my Zero points balance, then clicked on buy points..... and to my amazement, window opened for the purpose, completed the buy, and le voila -- five minutes later, the requisite 2k points are in my account.
Key operative word in the t&c's below apparently is "or" :-)
to any lurkers readings this, yes, it does work.
Say, the terms & conditions for buying points at Iberia explicitly indicate:
"Purchasers must have had an Iberia Plus card for more than 3 months or have an Avios balance higher than 0."
How did you manage to get around this?
Hi JoE. Interesting they let you buy avios points as your first activity. Are you based in the US, or by chance, in Europe somewhere? (I ask as the Iberia system hasn't let me even buy the points -- as a first activating transaction, and I have a US location.)
