  • Ibotta is offering $20.17 in free ‘school supplies’ including a loaf of bread, jar of peanut butter and of jelly, mixed fruit, notebook, box of tissues, package of pencils and package of erasers.

How it works:

  • Visit Ibotta from your computer to unlock your free offers.
  • Add the offers to Your list and redeem them in-store at Walmart or online at Target Online, H-E-B Online, Instacart, or Shipt.
  • That’s it! Get 100% cash back on school supplies and snacks, while supplies last.

The Fine Print

  • No need to buy all of the items in order to qualify – you can get cashback on whichever ones you purchase
  • The offers will be available beginning 7/14/21. Supplies are limited, so redeem the offers before it’s too late!
  • You’ll get cash back within 24 hours after your order is picked up or delivered, or up to 72 hours if you are redeeming at Target.

Our Verdict

Should be possible (?) to add all these items at target.com and get free shipping with REDcard, and get the full $20.38 back from Ibotta. I think you’ll click through from Ibotta to make the purchase (?). Hopefully someone who goes through with it can clarify.

  • Has anyone had this successfully track with a Target.com pickup order? If so, how long did it take?

  • I don't regularly shop at Walmart so I did the offers on instacart. They also helped me meet the minimum spend - as a single person I always struggle to meet the Instacart minimum spend in one grocery store.

(I combined an instacart $40 off $80 pick up offer with Ibotta & aisle, eventually paid $15 out of pocket after all the cashback). Ibotta instacart cashback posted about two days after the pick up.

  • The dollar amount is capped. On my area where these are way more expensive even the bread might not be worth it.

  • It seems Ibotta also added a new Pepperidge Farm goldfish crackers Back to School
offer. It wasn’t there when I originally redeemed these offers. It is for any variety of the 6.6 Oz. bags with $1.89 back.

    • Because not everyone has such immense privilege as you to expect that everyone is able to afford expensive things. Because this still helps people who would otherwise not even be able to afford this. Because this doesn't interfere in any way with people who are able to afford more expensive food.

Get the hell off your privileged high horse.

  • Got 7 items for free each on 2 different accounts. Loaded the offers via the browser before heading to the store. I got everything in store at Walmart, and I already got my credit and cashed everything out to PayPal. Using discounted gift cards I got with the 15% cash app offer made this a moneymaker.

Apparently they have added crayons now too, but I didn’t bother to get those. Missed out on the del monte cups, and my store never had the yogurt. The Kleenex offer disappeared from my app, but I got credited for it anyway.

  • Don't forget about the bonus as well. Ibotta typically runs a bonus Mon - Wed and another one Thu - Sun. The bonus amount and the number of redeemed offers required to get the bonus varies by user; the more you use the app, the worse it will be since they're trying to get you to buy even more. I had a $3 bonus this weekend for redeeming 15 offers, so these 9 plus an "any grocery receipt" offer that I had counted for 10 of those.

Walmart had all 9 items, most for less than the rebate, but the pencils were priced higher than the rebate, and the notebook was a few cents lower, but would have been more with the added tax. So, I got those two at Target instead, where the 5% Red Card discount made them a better deal. Linked my Target account at 5:00 pm Friday, ordered at 5:30, picked up at 7:30, and got notification of the Ibotta credits at 5:10 am Sunday.

  • Bought all items, except the yogurt, from Target yesterday. Ibotta credit posted today. Thanks, DoC!
